About our Department:

The General Services Department consists of several divisions in different locations throughout the City. The Facilities Projects Division manages new construction, additions, and alterations of City-owned buildings and parks. The Maintenance Division oversees the maintenance and janitorial services of City-owned structures and properties.

General Services Facilities Worker Position Overview:

• This is entry level, facility maintenance work performing installation, maintenance and repair work.
• Assembles, installs and repairs shuttle bus stop houses.
• Assembles, installs or repairs fencing, gates and playground equipment.
• Installs or removes soccer and basketball goals.
• Installs, repairs, and inspects playground equipment.
• Installs and repairs bleachers.
• Assist other trades in the performance of their work.
• Assist a General Services Facilities Supervisor or contractors performing more advanced work assignments.

Qualifications and Necessary Special Requirements:

• High school diploma from a school accredited by a regional accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education or GED certificate issued by the appropriate state agency or graduation from a technical college accredited by an agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education with some experience and proficiency in a technical related field such as welding, masonry or general construction and facilities maintenance; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
• Possession of a valid Driver's License.
• Must Pass the written portion of the CDL, Class B Endorsement test within six (6) months of hire and/or promotion date.
• Must pass the driving test and obtain a valid CDL, Class B Endorsement within eleven (11) months of hire and/or promotion date.
