A leading organization in Norfolk is looking for a part-time General Service Technician to maintain their facilities and equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience in repairs, facility management, and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks. This role requires a valid driver's license and the ability to transport equipment to various locations. Candidates should possess strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.
General Service Technician
Part-Time (20-25 hours a week)
Facilities and Maintenance Manager
The General Service Technician will perform a wide range of skilled and semi-skilled repairs and maintenance of the agency’s buildings, grounds, and vehicles in accordance with all local, state, federal, and agency policies. All facilities and equipment will be kept in a hygienic, safe, and presentable condition. He/She will assist the Facilities and Maintenance Manager in coordinating outside service vendors and volunteers when recommended to restore facilities, equipment, or grounds to proper condition. Additionally, will substitute custodians as needed, which includes mopping, sweeping, cleaning bathrooms, and taking out the garbage.
Minimum of 1-3 years of experience in facility management. Knowledge of light construction, painting, assembling furniture, and general work as needed. Two years of college and/or technical school training and Universal EPA certification. Ability to transport equipment and staff to multiple locations. Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License or Commercial Driver’s License. Willingness to participate in a professional organization and obtain ongoing training in facility management. Must relate well to children and adults.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Facilities and Maintenance Manager and/or CEO.
