Job summary

Summa Health is seeking a General Mechanic to perform a broad range of maintenance tasks across electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, vinyl, and heating/cooling systems. The role includes preventative maintenance, record keeping for main systems, and safety checks.

Qualified candidates have two years of maintenance experience in large facilities, with a preference for EPA refrigeration certification; if not certified, certification must be obtained within 6–12 months.

Qualifications

• Two years general maintenance experience in a large institution.
• EPA refrigeration certification preferred; if not certified, must obtain within 6–12 months of employment.
• Able to read blueprints and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Respond to tenant requests for electrical, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, and related services.

Summary

Analyzes and responds in a self-directed manner to tenant requests for services to a broad variety of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, vinyling and heating/cooling functions.

Performs preventative maintenance and completes records for the buildings main mechanical systems; air conditioning, plumbing, electrical systems.

Performs safety checks; orders supplies and equipment as needed; performs related functions.

Minimum Qualifications

• Formal Education Required:
  • Two (2) years trade school
  • High school level course in grammar, composition and mathematics
• Experience & Training Required:
  • Two (2) years general maintenance experience in a large institution, commercial facility or service company
  • Universal EPA refrigeration certification preferred. If not currently certified, required to obtain certification within 6-12 mths of Summa employment.
• Other Skills, Competencies and Qualifications:
  • Ability to plan, prioritize workload and effectively resolve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, engineers, contractors and staff.
  • Ability to analyze data, diagnose and troubleshoot complex systems and equipment.
  • Ability to work from blueprints and drawings.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
  • Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for self-respect and dignity.
• Level of Physical Demands:
  • Medium: Exerts 20-50 pounds of force occasionally and/or ten to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force continuously to move objects.

The salary range on this job posting/advertising is base salary exclusive of any bonuses or differentials. Many factors, such as years of relevant experience and geographical location are considered when determining the starting rate of pay.
