The Gathering Spot is seeking a General Manager in Washington, DC to lead overall club operations and member experience. The GM will translate the club vision into exceptional hospitality, drive financial performance, and manage a high-performing team within a vibrant community.

The role requires 7+ years of progressive leadership in hospitality or experience-driven environments, with a BS/BA and MBA preferred. Build strong relationships across the DC ecosystem and guide future club evolution.

Qualifications

• BS/BA in Business Administration, Hospitality Management or related field is required.
• MBA strongly preferred.
• At least 7 years of progressive leadership and management experience, ideally within hospitality, membership clubs or another experience-driven business.

Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional member experience and reflect the TGS brand in every club interaction.
• Lead and develop a high-performing team with clear direction and accountability.
• Oversee all club operations including staffing, facilities, F&B, programming and daily execution.
• Manage budgets and P&L performance, align staffing and development with the business plan.
• Build relationships with Washington, DC’s business and cultural communities.
• Partner with leadership to evolve the DC club and member experiences.

Position Title: General Manager

Reporting to: CEO

Location: Washington D.C.

TGS DC is more than a private membership club though. It is a community where entrepreneurs, executives, creatives, civic leaders and culture-shapers come together to build meaningful relationships and experiences.

Position Summary

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance and daily operation of TGS DC. The GM will translate the vision and standards of The Gathering Spot into an exceptional and consistent member experience while ensuring strong operational and financial performance. This is not simply a hospitality management role. We are looking for a leader who can operate an exceptional club, lead and develop a high-performing team, and become a trusted presence within the TGS membership and broader Washington, DC community.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver an exceptional member experience.
  • Set a high standard for hospitality and ensure that every part of the club experience reflects the TGS brand.
  • Establishes, implements, and communicates the strategic direction of TGS DC while providing a premier hospitality experience and efficient operations.
• Lead and develop a great team.
  • Recruit, develop and hold accountable a strong leadership team while creating a culture of clarity, collaboration, hospitality and execution.
  • Collaborates with executive leadership to develop and meet company goals while supplying expertise and guidance on operations, projects and systems.
  • Identifies training needs and ensures proper training is developed and provided.
• Drive operational excellence.
  • Oversee all aspects of club operations, including staffing, facilities, food and beverage, programming and day-to-day execution.
  • Establishes, communicates, and implements operations-disciplined policies, practices, standards, and security measures to ensure effective and consistent support and execution in line with the TGS brand.
• Own the business.
  • Manage budgets and P&L performance, establish clear operating priorities and use data and sound judgment to drive results.
  • Ensures that club decisions and plans such as those for staffing, development, organization, hardware acquisitions, and facilities are in line with the TGS business plan and vision.
• Build community inside and outside the club.
  • Develop authentic relationships with members while maintaining a meaningful presence within Washington, DC’s business, cultural, civic and creative communities.
• Help build what comes next.
  • Partner with TGS executive leadership to implement the next evolution of the DC club, its offerings and the overall member experience.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

• Seasoned, emotionally intelligent and highly relational leader who combines hospitality instincts with disciplined execution.
• Robust understanding of P&L management, team development and operational excellence while also possessing the presence and relationship-building ability required to lead a community like TGS.
• Deep connections to Washington, DC and an authentic understanding of the city are especially important.
• The General Manager should embody the qualities that define The Gathering Spot: excellence, curiosity, authenticity, hospitality and a genuine belief in the power of community.

Education & Experience:
