Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a General Manager RMX in Plano, TX to lead the Ready Mix business, drive strategy execution and oversee P&L, safety, and operations.

The role emphasizes cost-efficient processes, customer-centric growth, and development of annual plans with strong leadership across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 10+ years of equivalent experience.
  • Master’s degree preferred.
  • Field of Study preferred: Operations Management, Business, Sales, Marketing, Civil Engineering, or related discipline.
  • Minimum 10 years in construction materials sector with at least 5 years of proven GM leadership.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and ensure continual process improvement to support the business strategy.
  • Maintain positive relations with employees, customers, suppliers, and community while ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Understand customer needs and position the company to profitably meet them; deliver excellent service.
  • Develop annual business plans, volumes and budgets; establish sales goals and market expectations.
  • Ensure quality through production process evaluation and collaborate with support functions on quality.
  • Manage budgets, monitor costs, and drive capital expenditure decisions.
  • Foster a safety-focused culture and adherence to health, safety, and environmental policies.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Drives strategy execution by overseeing and managing the Ready Mix business (safety, operations, full P&Ls, sales, maintenance, quality control, sustainability, land & environment, etc.).
The specific areas of focus include, but are not limited to, OH&S leadership, employee productivity,
operational efficiency, customer centricity, employee retention/satisfaction by maintaining a positive workingenvironment. The GM translates customer requirements into state-of-the-art production strategies andprocesses resulting in cost-effective processes. Should develop operations plans, budgets, and policies andprocedures. Supervises, coaches and mentors subordinates. Monitors activities and satisfies reportingrequirements in accordance to the Company’s policies. Responsible for financial performance, which includesamong other things profit & loss accounts and capital expenditures. Leads by example and shows behaviorconsistent with the company’s values.

WHAT YOU'LL ACCOMPLISH
  • Delivers strategic leadership and management practices to the organization in support of the company’sbusiness strategy. Ensures continual process improvement.
  • Responsible for ensuring positive relations with all stakeholders: employees, customers, suppliers,
    community, government interest groups, etc. Assures adherence to applicable legislation and regulations,including permit and environmental conditions; in coordination with local Environmental Manager.
  • Understands the needs of the customers and positions the company to profitably meet mutual needsofcustomer and company. Provides excellent customer service to stakeholder groups by addressingissues, questions or concerns in a timely manner. Builds long lasting relationships with customers.
  • Assesses market opportunities and develops annual business plans in terms of volume and expensebudgets. Responsible for establishing sales goals. Develops appropriate market expectations and forsales and marketing functions. Ensures the execution of sales strategies to develop new opportunities,increase market share and promote profitable sales growth.
  • Ensures quality through evaluation of the production process, material inputs and outputs. Partners withsupport functions to ensure that highest quality product is being delivered.
  • Responds to and maintains positive employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory
    productivity, motivation and morale. Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals whenthey
    arise. Motivates coaches and mentors employees to build effective teams.
  • Ensures adherence to budget and optimizes processes to achieve greater operational effectiveness.
  • Oversees and directs preparation of operating budgets. Conducts operations reviews to assess all costdrivers that impact financials. Monitors and controls operational volumes, capacity, material use,inventory data, etc. Reviews financial statements, operations and cost reports, and other key
    performance indicators to measure productivity and goal achievement and to determine areas needingcost reduction and program improvement. Manages capital expenditures.
  • Partners with Regional Management and support functions on the development of overall objectives andlong-range goals/strategies for the region. Translates and cascades objectives to measurable goals to itsdirect reports and monitors actions, he is ultimately accountable for the successful execution of allapproved strategies.
  • Partners withHuman Resources on employee development and succession planning initiatives, recruiting, discipline,etc.
  • Ensures a culture built with honesty, integrity and in compliance with the company requiremen
  • Demonstrate a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to health, safety and
    environmental policies in all work environments and areas. Promote a culture of safety and exhibit thesebehaviors.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR


Education: Bachelor's degree 10+ years of equivalent experience.
Additional Education Preferred: Master’s degree
Field of Study Preferred: Operations Management, Business, Sales, Marketing, Civil Engineering, or other related discipline
Required Work Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of experience in the construction materials sector, including, but not limited to,
production, distribution, quality, and commercial. Must include at least 5 years of proven leadership as a
General Manager.

Required Training/Certifications: Frequent travel to company and customer sites and within the US for
corporate projects. Travel overseas might be sometimes required.
Required Technical Skills: Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office Products (Excel,
PowerPoint, Word). SAP, Qlik Sense, and Google Meets/Zoom experience preferred.
Travel Requirements: Frequent travel to company and customer sites and within the US for corporate
projects. Travel overseas might be sometimes required.

Additional Requirements:

  • Successful candidates must adhere to all safety protocols and proper use of Amrize approved
    Personal Protection Equipment (PPE), including but not limited to respirators. Subject to applicable
    law, employees that are required to wear respirators must be clean shaven where the respirator sealmeets the face in order to pass the qualitative and quantitative fit tests.
