Job summary

Liebherr Group is seeking a General Manager of Operations for Liebherr USA MCC Operations in Houston. You will oversee operations, workshops, training, DiSC, used equipment, and warranty, driving continuous improvement and staff development.

The role requires a Bachelor's in a related field and 5 years progressive experience with 2 years in materials/manufacturing; travel up to 50%. The employer offers comprehensive benefits and equal opportunity.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 5+ years of progressive experience in product support and distribution, including 2 years in materials or manufacturing.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% domestically and internationally.
  • Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures efficient operations and proper working environment across all Liebherr MCC facilities.
  • Conducts annual budget setting and strategic planning aligned with MCC global strategies.
  • Builds and leads teams to achieve LUS-MCC goals and champions continuous improvement.
  • Sets up and maintains efficient Workshops and supports training development for internal and external customers.
  • Implements processes for warranty and used equipment practices; drives cost efficiency.
  • Oversees inventory management, rental equipment readiness, and market preparation.
  • Ensures staff training progresses and supervises the Operations, Workshops, Training, DiSC teams.

Job description

The General Manager Operations is responsible for the overall administration and efficient operation of Liebherr USA MCC Operations, Workshops, Rental Fleet Operations, Training, DiSC, Used Equipment Management, Sales Administration and Warranty with a focus on Continuous Improvement. The Manager provides a superior level of service and exceeds all departmental goals. The individual promotes the Liebherr culture through coaching, guidance, and staff motivation to help achieve individual and departmental goals and provides leadership, training, and supervision in alignment with divisional targets. Detailed focus on the procurement and distribution of various production and spare parts, components and other products or other related services as required.

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties:

  • Ensures the efficient operations, organization and proper working capabilities and environment in All Liebherr MCC facilities.
  • Conduct annual budget setting and strategic planning for Operations of LUS-MCC in collaborating and supporting MCC global strategies.
  • Focuses on organizational topics and builds team to achieve the overall LUS-MCC strategic goals.
  • Sets up and maintains efficient Workshops.
  • Supports development of training for internal and external customers.
  • Support activities around DiSC and constantly ensure digital tools are made available to customers .
  • Implements processes and procedures and achieves identified metrics with Warranty.
  • In cooperation with Used Equipment Manager, develops processes and procedures for taking trade -in's and buying machines from customers.
  • Supports Sales Administration with flow of work and continuous improvement.
  • Ensures Liebherr MCC personnel are well trained and develops a matrix to monitor training progress.
  • Supervises and maintains an accurate up-to-date inventory management and control system for Equipment Rental Inventory and attachments.
  • Manages processes of inspecting, analyzing and readying rental equipment for the market.
  • Becomes familiar and efficient with all phases of the computer system required for management.
  • Provides superior customer service to both internal and external customers.
  • Handles complaints reasonably, showing empathy and a positive attitude.
  • Develops all expense controls and ensures they are adhered to by all departments.
  • Improves process quality to drive optimum cost performance.
  • Promotes safety in work processes and associate performance by supporting 6S initiatives and/or facility programs, educating associates, and ensuring a safe work environment.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Manages 6 (+) employees..
  • Responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of Operations, Workshops, Training, DiSC and Continuous Improvement team.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Competencies

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (i.e. Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Material Management) with 5 years of progressive experience in product support and distribution including 2 years materialsand/or manufacturing experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.


Additional Requirements:

  • Travel domestically and internationally up to 50% of the time.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport
