Job summary

Jobtailor in the United States is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to oversee a designated operation's direction, compliance, and financial results. The role interfaces with leadership on proposals and contract negotiations.

You will champion LEAN practices, Six Sigma initiatives, and ISO activities, while developing teams and maintaining safety programs. Strong budgeting, P&L management, and WMS understanding are essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Budgeting and P&L management experience required.
  • At least 3 years of experience in an operations management related position.
  • Basic understanding of WMS (Warehouse Management Systems).
  • English reading, writing, and verbal skills.
  • Advanced expertise in accounting and financial mathematical applications related to managing a P&L and preparing site/operational budgets.
  • 4-Year College Degree preferred; equivalent experience or combination of education and experience considered.
  • Prefer 5 years’ experience in a leadership role in a logistics/distribution/supply chain environment in an operations management capacity.
  • 3PL management experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary customer interface for leadership decisions on proposals and contracts.
  • Champion LEAN, continuous improvement, supply chain analysis, and Six Sigma initiatives.
  • Develop marketing plans and assist in growing new business.
  • Ensure operations align with corporate mission, values, and client expectations.
  • Oversee manpower, recruiting, retention, and employee development.
  • Ensure procedures support client service, productivity, and facilities/equipment maintenance.
  • Set continuous-improvement goals for assigned sites.
  • Oversee safety and security, safety programs, OSHA/DOT compliance.
  • Develop teams, train management, and support mentoring and succession planning.
  • Develop automation/technology plans and stay current with WMS tech.
  • Partner with senior leadership on annual operating budgets.
  • Manage controls to meet service levels, costs, revenue, and profit.
  • Ensure accounts achieve predetermined profit standards.
  • Champion client relationship management and set service standards.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs.
  • Lead business reviews with client and company representatives.
  • Represent the company in local trade, professional, and civic associations.

Requirements

  • Varied industry vertical experience preferred
  • 3PL management experience strongly preferred
