MERS Missouri Goodwill is seeking an energetic General Manager in Training to join our Festus store team. You will support store operations, budgets, and staff development while upholding our mission of changing lives through work.

The role offers hourly full-time employment at $24.50 per hour, with a monthly bonus up to $500 and comprehensive benefits for eligible employees. Qualifications include a high school diploma and retail or management experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.
• Three years of Retail, Warehouse, or Logistics management experience.
• MO or IL driver’s license and insurance required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; teamwork essential.
• Leadership skills: decision-making, goal-setting, and accountability.
• Comfort with registers and inventory management software.

Responsibilities

• Oversee store operations, budgets, and resources to meet goals.
• Model values and foster safety, ethics, and quality in-store culture.
• Supervise and train staff to perform primary duties.
• Provide superior customer service to ensure donor/shopper loyalty.
• Coach employees, enforce performance standards, and handle discipline.
• Assign daily duties to achieve operational tasks and identify promotable staff.
• Protect company assets and report any misconduct or theft; follow policies.
• Manage staffing, payroll audits, and ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED required; bachelor's degree preferred.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Responsible for learning how to oversee store operations, resources, and budgets to ensure all goals and benchmarks are met or exceeded.
• Model core values to establish a culture with an understanding and commitment to safety, ethics, and quality within the store.
• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de‑escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees concerning the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Risk Management.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code
• Completion of the MERS Goodwill's Leadership Development Cohort Program.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
• Individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
