General Manager – Electrical Contracting ( East Houston, TX)
Salary: $110,000–$150,000/year + Benefits

A long-standing electrical contracting firm based in Houston is looking for a General Manager to lead the company into its next phase of growth. With over 35 years of successful operations and a strong reputation in light industrial and utility sectors, this is a unique opportunity for a down-to-earth, driven leader who thrives in a hands-on environment.

We’re seeking someone with a proven background in light industrial electrical work and design-build projects—someone who is confident managing teams, skilled in estimating, and committed to building lasting relationships. Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage all company operations, with a focus on project planning, execution, and profitability

  • Oversee estimating and proposal development for design-build and turn-key industrial projects

  • Manage scheduling of labor and materials to ensure project deadlines and budgets are met

  • Build and maintain strong client relationships while actively developing new business

  • Supervise and support project managers, ensuring high performance and accountability

  • Ensure compliance with NEC, building codes, and safety regulations

  • Review monthly financials and implement strategic changes as needed

  • Track and manage manpower, hiring, and staffing based on project pipeline

  • Conduct performance reviews and support team development

  • Maintain documentation and reporting standards across projects

  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence

Requirements & Must-Haves

  • 15+ years of experience in the electrical contracting industry required

  • Current TDLR Master Electrician License required

  • Turn-key project management from bid to completion required

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience in Water/Wastewater utility work required

  • Extensive experience in Light Industrial Design-Build electrical projects required

  • Strong estimating and project budgeting skills

  • Working knowledge of NEC, electrical design principles, and instrumentation (PLCs, transmitters, motor control, etc.)

  • Proficiency in computer systems; AutoCAD is a plus

  • Experience in sales and client development in the Houston/Harris County market

  • Clear communication and high emotional intelligence

  • A go-getter mindset with a practical, grounded leadership style

  • Ability to lead and inspire a team, problem-solve, and make strategic decisions independently
