Job summary

B.HOM Student Living in Des Moines, IA, seeks a General Manager to oversee all facets of a student housing community, including staffing, leasing, marketing, maintenance, and resident experience. You will drive NOI and lead a high-performing team while upholding company values.

This role requires strong leadership, clear communication, and the ability to manage budgets, operations, and partnerships with campus partners.

Responsibilities

  • Lead resident engagement programming and community events.
  • Manage property budget, expenses, and financial performance to maximize NOI.
  • Monitor resident accounts for accuracy, collections, and timeliness.
  • Ensure adherence to internal financial controls and company policies.
  • Identify opportunities for operational and financial improvements.
  • Develop partnerships with universities and local organizations.
  • Lead outreach marketing initiatives in the surrounding community.
  • Represent B.HOM professionally with residents, clients, and stakeholders.

Position Summary

The General Manager has full responsibility for the overall operations and financial performance of the assigned community. This includes oversight of staffing, leasing, marketing, maintenance, financial management, and resident experience. This role is accountable for delivering strong operational results, driving NOI, and leading a high-performing team.

What You’ll Do
Leadership & Team Development

What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Strong leadership and team management experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in student housing or multifamily property management
  • Familiarity with property management systems such as Entrata
Work Schedule
  • Primarily Monday–Friday
  • Extended hours, evenings, and weekends required based on business needs
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to move throughout the property and conduct inspections
  • Frequent use of a computer and office equipment
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person, phone, and written formats
  • Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Ability to travel locally and occasionally overnight as needed
