Job description

A nationally recognized hospitality group is seeking an energetic, visionary, and people-focused General Manager to lead one of its high-performing clubs in Cook County, IL. This is an exceptional opportunity for a strategic leader who thrives in fast-paced, high-volume environments and is excited by the opportunity to make a lasting impact.

While the golf operation is already well established and successful, the primary focus of this role is to elevate and expand the Food & Beverage, private events, and social programming to drive revenue, enhance the guest experience, and strengthen the property's presence within the community.

Reporting directly to regional executive leadership, the General Manager will oversee all aspects of the operation while serving as the face of the property. This leader will inspire and develop a talented team, champion operational excellence, cultivate strong member and guest relationships, and execute a vision that positions the property for continued growth and long-term success.

Compensation & Benefits
  • Base Salary: $105,000 - $115,000
  • Comprehensive Benefits: Medical, Vision, Dental, PTO/Sick, and 401k.
  • Relocation Assistance: Yes. The amount will vary by location.
General Manager Ideal Profile
  • Balanced Golf & F&B Acumen: A strong understanding of both golf operations and upscale food & beverage (F&B) environments. Specific experience or a strong desire to strategically build out and enhance F&B revenue and event programming is essential.
  • Approachability & Customer Focus: A highly visible, presentable, and engaging leadership style. You must possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a passion for delivering a five-star customer service experience to daily-fee guests and community stakeholders.
  • Financial & Operational Command: Proven experience managing a full Profit & Loss (P&L) statement ($3M+), with a track record of meticulous budgeting, forecasting, and driving productivity efficiencies.
  • Action-Oriented Project Driver: A proactive, "hands-on" operator who takes immediate ownership of projects, establishes clear accountability, and thrives in a fast-paced environment where execution cannot wait.
  • Mentorship & Team Building: Ability to guide a solid core staff—including a Superintendent and a newly appointed Director of Agronomy—while providing structure, direction, and professional development to a young, eager group of assistants hungry to do more. You will also oversee the onboarding of a new F&B Director (search currently in progress).
  • Sophisticated Stakeholder Relations: High emotional intelligence to confidently interface with municipal and local officials, community organizations, corporate clients, and ownership.
  • Qualifications: A college degree is preferred, alongside 5+ years of applicable functional management experience, ideally within the golf, resort, or private club industries. Certifications such as CCM or CCE are valued but not mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Manage and direct all daily functions across golf operations, F&B, banquets, and maintenance to ensure seamless, top-tier service standards.
  • F&B & Revenue Innovation: Partner with the incoming F&B Director to design and implement creative culinary programming, seasonal social events, and community initiatives that maximize clubhouse utilization and boost non-golf revenues.
  • Financial Stewardship: Develop, coordinate, and monitor the facility’s annual business plan and operating/capital budgets. Analyze variances and execute swift action plans to ensure profitability goals are met.
  • Staff Coaching & Development: Provide active leadership, clear performance metrics, and tactical coaching to department heads and hourly staff, transforming an eager team into a highly cohesive unit.
  • Community & Client Liaison: Act as the principal public face of the property, cultivating trusted relationships with the local community, municipal stakeholders, and patrons.

If you are a high-energy, project-driven hospitality professional with a passion for both golf culture and elevated food & beverage, we want to hear from you immediately.
