Job summary

Marin Country Club is seeking a full-time General Manager to lead the club through its next chapter of excellence and strategic growth, reporting to the Board and overseeing department heads to deliver superior service and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate combines visionary leadership with a passion for member experience, a track record of profitable operations, and the ability to align programs with a multi-year strategic plan while sustaining the private club's unique identity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5-7 years in a senior leadership role within private club/hospitality.
  • Strong background in club operations (FO&B, golf, events).
  • Proven budget management, profitability, and financial sustainability.
  • Commitment to member needs and building member relationships.
  • Ability to align operations with long-term strategic goals.
  • Experience leading high-performing teams with development and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with Board exposure.
  • CCM designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working with a Board in private club environment is a plus.

  • Execute and evolve strategic plan supporting long-term vision and elevate service.
  • Lead day-to-day club operations including golf, F&B, tennis, aquatics, and events.
  • Build relationships with members through visibility and hospitality leadership.
  • Lead annual budgeting and forecasting; establish departmental accountability; provide financial analysis.
  • Develop a high-performing leadership team and culture of accountability, service, and professionalism.
  • Serve as liaison to the Board with transparency and performance updates.
  • Ensure exceptional execution of events and lifestyle programming.
  • Develop multi-year capital plan aligned with the club's strategic vision, member expectations, facility needs, and funding.
  • Partner with the Board and department leaders on a multi-year financial roadmap including reserves and dues strategy.

This role will work closely with the Board of Directors and lead department heads to deliver superior service, ensure operational excellence, and foster an engaged membership community.

The position offers the opportunity to guide a highly respected private club where innovation, tradition, and member satisfaction intersect. With support from Troon's operational systems, financial tools, HR infrastructure, and marketing resources, the General Manager will be empowered to elevate the club experience while maintaining the club's unique identity.

Experience Required
  • Minimum of 5-7 years in a senior leadership role within a private club, hospitality, or luxury service environment.
  • Strong background in club operations, including food & beverage, golf, and event management.
  • Demonstrated success in managing budgets, driving profitability, and achieving financial sustainability.
  • Deep commitment to understanding and exceeding member needs, with a track record of building strong member relationships.
  • Ability to align operations with long-term strategic goals in a competitive market.
  • Proven ability to build and lead high-performing teams with a focus on professional development, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with members, staff, and the Board of Directors.
  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Certified Club Manager (CCM) designation or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience working closely with a Board of Directors in a private club or luxury service environment is a plus.

  • Partner with the Board and department leaders on a multi-year financial roadmap, including reserve requirements, dues strategy, capital investment, and scenario analysis.
