Job summary

Transdev is seeking a General Manager to oversee operations in Essex County, NJ, ensuring safe and reliable service, staff supervision, budget adherence, and customer satisfaction. The role emphasizes strategic direction, KPI management, and regulatory compliance to drive financial performance.

The position requires 5+ years managing bus operations, solid knowledge of transit regulations, and strong communication with clients and unions. Travel ~10% and full-time employment.

Qualifications

• Four-year college degree desirable, combination of education and experience will be considered.
• Experience in Business Administration, Logistics, Transportation or related field or equivalent business experience preferred.
• At least 5 years of experience managing a fixed-route or paratransit bus operation of similar size and scope.
• Knowledge of relevant federal and state employment laws.
• Thorough knowledge of transit system regulations and operations.

Responsibilities

• Continuously builds relationships with employees, the client, union partners, and the local community.
• According to location/client contract, sets commercial and operational direction for the business unit team.
• Leads the management team and employee workforce to achieve safety, service performance, and financial objectives.
• Identifies, suggests, and develops business growth opportunities.
• Includes optimizing ROA with asset utilization such as vehicle scheduling, maintenance, and performance management.
• Identifies and analyzes KPIs to maintain positive results.
• Ensures services are provided within budget and action plans are implemented to improve efficiencies.
• Determines and delivers the business unit budget.
• Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations and corporate safety standards.
• Oversees staff management and assigns development training in liaison with corporate teams.
• Ensures environmental compliance and sustainability management.
• Provides complete and accurate data collection, compilation, analysis, and reporting.
• Other duties as required.
• Travel requirement outside of immediate area 10%

The General Manager will proactively manage overall operations including the delivery of safe and reliable service, employee oversight, management of contract assets, risk management, client and customer satisfaction and financial performance. This position is based in Essex, NJ in supporting the Essex County.

Qualifications:

• Completionofafour(4)yearcollegedegreeinarelevantfieldisdesirable,althoughacombinationof relevant experience and education will be considered.
• ExperienceinBusinessAdministration,Logistics,Transportationorrelatedfieldorequivalentbusiness experience preferred.
