Job summary

Seven Executive Limited is leading a search for a General Manager to oversee a high-performing HVAC and plumbing business in New Jersey. The role entails full P&L ownership, driving growth in residential services while leading a team of six direct reports. Ideal candidates will have experience in managing sizable operations with commercial acumen. The target start date is Q3-Q4 2023, during which candidates will work closely with the current GM for a smooth transition.

Job description

Location: New Jersey (single-site)

I’m partnering with a private equity–backed residential services platform on a confidential search for a General Manager to take over a high-performing, multi‑trade HVAC and plumbing business in New Jersey. This is a planned succession, not a turnaround.

Start: Targeting Q3–Q4 (to allow for a proper handover)

P&L: c. $25m revenue

Key responsibilities

• Full ownership of the site P&L (c. $25m), including revenue, margin, and EBITDA performance
• Lead and develop a team of c. 6 direct reports (operations, sales, service/dispatch, etc.)
• Drive growth across HVAC and plumbing service lines, with a focus on residential customers
• Ensure operational excellence: service quality, safety, productivity, and customer experience
• Partner closely with the current GM during a structured transition period to ensure smooth succession
• Work within a PE-backed environment, leveraging data, KPIs, and best practice to scale sustainably

Ideal background

• Experience as a General Manager, Branch Manager, or equivalent senior operator with full P&L responsibility in the c. $20m–$30m range
• Background in residential HVAC, plumbing, or closely related home services
• Proven track record leading multi-functional teams and developing leader-level direct reports
• Strong commercial acumen – comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, and driving both top-line growth and profitability
• Hands‑on leadership style; able to balance strategic direction with day‑to‑day operational oversight
