Responsibilities

  • Lead daily manufacturing and production operations for the Houston facility.
  • Work directly with supervisors, leads, and technicians to resolve production issues.
  • Oversee fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, and manufacturing support activities.
  • Manage production schedules, staffing, workflow constraints, and operational priorities.
  • Track productivity, quality, scrap, rework, labor utilization, and on-time delivery.
  • Improve throughput, safety, quality, and production reliability.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, Supply Chain, Project Management, and Quality.
  • Develop supervisors and frontline production leaders.
  • Support hiring, workforce planning, performance management, and employee development.
  • Build repeatable manufacturing processes that can support increased production volume.
  • Participate in capacity planning, budgeting, and facility-growth decisions.

Job description

We are representing a Houston-based industrial equipment manufacturer seeking a General Manager to lead day-to-day manufacturing operations.

About the Role

This is not a corporate strategy role. The person hired will spend significant time on the manufacturing floor, working directly with supervisors, leads, technicians, fabrication teams, assembly teams, and testing personnel. The General Manager will own execution across fabrication, assembly, integration, testing, production scheduling, workforce planning, safety, quality, throughput, and delivery performance.

Qualifications
  • 10+ years in manufacturing, production, or industrial operations.
  • 3-5+ years leading manufacturing or production teams.
  • Experience managing supervisors, technicians, assemblers, fabricators, or other hourly production employees.
  • Background in industrial equipment, power systems, electrical equipment, engine or generator packaging, oil & gas equipment, fabrication, or comparable manufacturing environments.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S/6S, production scheduling, workforce planning, or continuous improvement.
  • Track record improving measurable operating results such as throughput, quality, labor efficiency, scrap/rework, safety, or delivery.
  • Ability to move between daily floor execution and longer-term capacity/process planning.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred; equivalent manufacturing leadership experience will be considered.
Required Skills
  • Hands-on leadership across industrial manufacturing, fabrication, assembly, testing, and production improvement.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in procurement, supply chain, corporate operations, consulting, or field service.
