Job summary

Superior Metal Products CO, INC, a privately owned sheet metal fabricator in Pottstown, PA, seeks a General Manager to own all commercial growth, factory operations, and financial performance. You will lead a team of 19 (Production Manager, Supervisors, Controller, and shop floor) with full autonomy from day one.

You will report to the Owner/President and drive accountability, safety, and profitability while expanding customer relationships and shaping long-range plans for the business.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of progressive manufacturing leadership experience.
• 3+ years in a General Manager, Plant Manager, or equivalent role with direct P&L accountability.
• Hands-on experience in sheet metal fabrication, metal stamping, custom metal fabrication, or job-shop manufacturing strongly preferred.
• Demonstrated success growing revenue or expanding the customer base in a small-to-mid-size manufacturing environment.
• Strong financial literacy — comfortable reading, acting on, and presenting P&L statements, job costing reports, and cash flow summaries.
• Proven ability to lead and motivate a factory workforce with credibility, fairness, and high expectations.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or a related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.

Responsibilities

• Drive revenue growth by owning customer relationships and actively supporting new business development and account acquisition.
• Manage full P&L for a $5M manufacturing operation, with accountability for gross margin, operating expenses, and profitability.
• Lead and develop a team of approximately 19 people, including a Production Manager, 2 Plant Supervisors, a Controller, and 15 factory workers.
• Oversee all production scheduling, capacity planning, quality control, and on-time delivery performance.
• Ensure full workplace safety compliance and champion a zero-incident culture throughout the facility.
• Partner with ownership on capital investment decisions, strategic planning, and long-range business development.
• Manage vendor and supply chain relationships to ensure material availability and cost competitiveness.
• Recruit, onboard, and develop plant-level talent; administer all HR matters including performance management and disciplinary actions.
• Provide weekly and monthly performance reporting to ownership, including financial results, operational KPIs, and forward-looking issues.
• Identify and execute process improvements across operations, quality, and administration to improve throughput and profitability.

We are looking for a General Manager who will treat this business like their own — someone who is energized by accountability, comfortable in a plant environment, and capable of building something.

The Opportunity:

This is a genuine General Manager role — not a plant manager title with limited authority. The incoming GM will have full P&L ownership and decision-making authority across commercial growth, factory operations, financial performance, and people leadership. You will have direct reports including a Production Manager, two Plant Supervisors, and a Controller, and you will be accountable for the performance of a total team of approximately 19. You will report directly to the Owner/President & Chairman of the Board, with a high degree of autonomy and clear performance expectations established from day one.

What We're Looking For:
