G1 Climbing + Fitness is seeking a full-time General Manager to lead our facility, support department heads, and drive overall business success. The role focuses on driving membership growth, member engagement, and revenue generation while delivering exceptional member experiences.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of climbing experience with a strong understanding of belaying, climbing technique, terminology, and equipment.
  • Redpoint familiarity preferred; Rock Gym Pro (RGP) experience required if no Redpoint.
  • Previous management experience overseeing teams of 10+ employees.
  • Experience with P&L management and financial accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience with sales, membership growth, customer retention, or other revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly to groups of members, guests, and prospective customers.
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to work hands-on and contribute wherever needed.

Responsibilities

  • Own membership growth and member outreach as the primary business objective. Develop and execute strategies to generate new memberships, improve member retention, increase engagement, and grow revenue.
  • Set monthly, quarterly, and annual membership and revenue goals; be accountable for measurable results.
  • Regularly analyze membership, sales, attendance, billing, and other business data to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Oversee member outreach initiatives, including follow-up with prospective members, lapsed members, and existing members.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey from first visit through long-term membership.
  • Coordinate with department heads to ensure programs, events, and products support membership and revenue goals.
  • Provide the CEO with regular sales and membership reporting and actionable insights.
  • Oversee product and member experience; ensure offerings align with standards, brand, and values.
  • Represent G1 as a visible, approachable presence for members and staff.
  • Lead and mentor department heads; foster collaboration and accountability.
  • Assist in onboarding and offboarding through ADP; maintain employee-first culture.
  • Oversee Front Desk operations and billing processes; monitor memberships and avoid revenue loss.
  • Create SOPs and coordinate facility maintenance; handle emergencies and incident reporting.

Job description

G1 Climbing + Fitness is seeking a full-time General Manager to lead our facility, support our department heads, and drive the overall success of the business. The General Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for creating an exceptional member experience while driving membership growth, member engagement, and revenue generation .

The ideal candidate has management experience in a fitness, hospitality, retail, or similar customer-focused environment, including experience with P&L management, sales/revenue generation, and people management. They are a natural leader and mentor who is comfortable getting into the details, coordinating multiple moving pieces, and holding themselves and others accountable.

We are looking for someone who is unsatisfied with the status quo and constantly asks, How can we make this better? This person should be organized, self-directed, positive, and comfortable starting new initiatives while maintaining existing systems. Most importantly, they should genuinely enjoy connecting with people. A climbing gym is ultimately in the people business.

Membership Growth & Revenue Generation
  • Own membership growth and member outreach as the primary business objective of the role.

  • Establish monthly, quarterly, and annual membership and revenue goals and be accountable for measurable results.
  • Regularly analyze membership, sales, attendance, billing, and other business data to identify opportunities and areas for improvement.
  • Develop and oversee member outreach initiatives, including follow-up with prospective members, lapsed members, and existing members.
  • Identify opportunities to improve the customer journey from first visit through long-term membership.
  • Work closely with department heads to ensure G1’s programs, events, and products support membership and revenue goals.
  • Provide the CEO with regular sales and membership reporting, including progress toward established goals and actionable insights.
Product & Member Experience
  • Ensure G1’s current and future climbing, fitness, and membership products are aligned with company-wide standards, brand, and values.
  • Ensure G1 offers a compelling variety of products, programs, and events that meet the needs of our customers and members.
  • Be knowledgeable about all G1 offerings and understand how each department contributes to the overall member experience and business.
  • Consistently identify and implement strategies to improve the member experience, operational efficiency, and profitability.
  • Represent G1 as a visible, recognizable, and approachable presence for members, guests, and staff.
Leadership & Management Support
  • Serve as a key resource and thought partner for department heads in brainstorming, developing, and executing ideas and initiatives.
  • Ensure departments communicate and work collaboratively to execute programs, events, and offerings effectively.
  • Help connect departmental needs and opportunities with the Programs Director and marketing efforts.
  • Step in to support other managers when needed and be willing to wear multiple hats.
  • Provide mentorship, accountability, and constructive feedback to managers and staff.
  • Support employee onboarding and offboarding through ADP.
  • Help foster an employee-first culture while maintaining clear expectations and accountability.
Facility & Business Operations
  • Oversee the Front Desk Manager and ensure front desk and other customer-facing operations run smoothly.
  • Monitor billing processes, membership accounts, and collections to minimize revenue loss.
  • Conduct monthly membership and billing analysis to ensure accurate and effective billing practices.
  • Serve as G1’s primary expert on our POS software, Redpoint, and use the system to manage and assess membership, billing, product, sales, and attendance data.
  • Create and maintain SOPs and ensure they are consistently followed.
  • Coordinate facility maintenance and delegate tasks to ensure timely completion.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for facility emergencies when department heads are unavailable.
  • Respond to emergency situations professionally, manage incident reports, and communicate with insurance providers as needed.
  • Be available to work occasional nights and weekends as business needs require.
  • Complete additional duties and responsibilities as directed by the CEO.
Required Qualifications
  • 3+ years of climbing experience with a strong understanding of belaying, climbing technique, terminology, and equipment.
  • Thorough understanding and experience using Redpoint is preferred. Rock Gym Pro (RGP) experience is a must if you have no experience with Redpoint.
  • Previous management experience, preferably overseeing teams of 10+ employees.
  • Previous experience with P&L management and financial accountability.
  • Demonstrated experience with sales, membership growth, customer retention, or other revenue-generating initiatives.
  • Strong interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
  • Comfortable speaking publicly to groups of members, guests, and prospective customers.
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.

Compensation

Compensation is commensurate with experience. This is a salaried position ranging from $60,000–$75,000 per year .
