Job summary

Pyramid Global Hospitality is seeking a General Manager for The Midland Hotel in Chicago. You will lead overall operations, strategy, and growth of the property, guiding guest experiences, and financial performance in a high-volume setting.

The role requires a proven hospitality leadership track record, 10+ years in hotels, and a degree in Hospitality or Travel & Tourism; Marriott experience is preferred, with knowledge of Power of M, Lightspeed and CI/TY valued.

• At least 10 years of progressive hospitality experience in hotels.
• College degree or equivalent in Hospitality or Travel & Tourism.
• Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.

As the General Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operations, strategy, and growth of the hotel. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and exceptional management skills to ensure the hotel's success in delivering exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational efficiency, and achieving financial goals.

• Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan to drive the hotel's growth and profitability. Identify market trends, customer preferences, and competitive landscape to make informed business decisions. Set long-term goals and objectives for the hotel and work towards achieving them.
• Team Leadership: Lead a diverse team of department heads and staff, fostering a collaborative and motivated work environment. Provide guidance, mentoring, and development opportunities to team members. Encourage teamwork and open communication across all departments.
• Operations Management: Oversee all operational departments including front office, maintenance, accounting, sales & marketing, housekeeping, food & beverage, banquets, and more. Ensure smooth day-to-day operations by implementing efficient processes and procedures. Monitor service quality to maintain the highest standards of guest satisfaction.
• Financial Management: Create and manage the hotel's budget, allocating resources appropriately to various departments. Monitor financial performance, analyze variances, and implement corrective actions as needed. Drive revenue generation through strategic pricing, upselling, and innovative offerings.
• Guest Experience: Foster a guest-centric culture throughout the hotel, prioritizing personalized service and exceptional experiences. Address guest concerns and feedback promptly, striving for continuous improvement. Implement initiatives to enhance guest satisfaction and loyalty.
• Facilities Management: Ensure the maintenance and enhancement of the hotel's physical assets, including accommodations, amenities, and common areas. Implement sustainability initiatives to minimize the hotel's environmental impact. Strong management of capital projects.
• Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on local and national regulations related to the hospitality industry and ensure the hotel's compliance. Maintain health and safety standards for guests and staff.

What are we looking for?

• A proven track record as a successful leader as a busy downtown hotel General Manager or Managing Director with a strong background in hospitality.
• At least 10 years of progressive hospitality experience in hotels is required.
• A college degree or a combination of education and experience equivalent to a college degree, preferably in Hospitality, or Travel & Tourism Management Union collective bargaining experience preferred.
• Marriott brand experience strongly preferred.
• Power of M, Lightspeed and CI/TY knowledge preferred.
• Exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving abilities, and critical thinking skills.
• The flexibility to adapt to varying shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• A commitment to maintaining a positive culture and organized work environment.
• Proven success leading large, diverse teams in a high-volume environment.

Compensation: $190000 - $220000
