The Role
As General Manager, you will take full ownership of our facility’s daily rhythm—balancing business-to-business sales and order coordination, inventory and logistics, team leadership, and key customer relationships. You will lead by example, maintaining a professional, efficient operation while driving long‑term profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Oversee sales, warehouse workflows, inventory receiving, yard logistics, and local deliveries.
- Team Management: Recruit, train, and mentor a small, dedicated team. Maintain clear expectations, open communication, and high team morale.
- Client & Trade Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with local contractor and builder clients to ensure reliable service and drive repeat business.
- Inventory Control: Manage stock levels, conduct cycle counts, process purchase orders, handle receiving, and minimize shrinkage or waste.
- Administration & Systems: Utilize business management systems for customer estimates, invoicing, scheduling, and core administrative workflows.
- Facility Oversight: Ensure the showroom, office, and yard remain safe, organized, professional, and well‑maintained.
- Business Growth: Monitor margins, manage operational expenses, identify expansion opportunities, and support local marketing initiatives.
Qualifications & Key Competencies
- Management Experience: Proven background leading a materials yard, supply counter, or distribution center, focused on business to business sales.
- Industry Knowledge: Background in building materials, pool and/or hardscapes, masonry, or landscape supplies is strongly preferred.
- Practical Problem‑Solver: Strong decision‑making skills with the ability to manage high‑volume seasonal peaks effectively.
- Equipment Experience: Comfortable operating or learning basic yard equipment (e.g., forklifts).
- Dependable & Detail‑Oriented: Exceptional organizational skills to handle multi‑faceted daily operations smoothly.
Work Environment & Schedule
- Environment: Dynamic mix of office/counter administration, direct customer interaction, and active yard/warehouse management.
