Job Details: Job Location: Canton, TX 75103, POSITION SUMMARY
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, safety, financial performance, guest experience, staffing, and daily management of the assigned waterpark. This position provides hands‑on leadership to ensure the park operates safely, efficiently, professionally, and in accordance with company standards and policies.
The General Manager is responsible for leading the management team, developing employees, monitoring park performance, controlling labor and operating expenses, maintaining facility standards, and ensuring an exceptional guest experience.
The General Manager must be willing to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, extended hours, and other times necessary to support seasonal waterpark operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Park Operations
- Oversee all daily waterpark operations, including admissions, attractions, food and beverage, retail, guest services, parking, maintenance, cleanliness, and facility operations.
- Ensure all departments are properly staffed and operating according to company standards.
- Conduct daily park inspections and ensure the park is clean, safe, stocked, and operationally ready.
- Monitor operating conditions and make decisions regarding staffing, attractions, weather, guest flow, and other operational needs.
- Ensure opening and closing procedures are completed accurately and consistently.
- Maintain compliance with company operating procedures and established park standards.
- Coordinate with Corporate/Operations leadership regarding daily park performance and operational concerns.
Safety & Risk Management
- Make employee and guest safety the highest operational priority.
- Ensure all safety policies, procedures, emergency action plans, and regulatory requirements are followed.
- Work closely with Aquatics, Lifeguard, Maintenance, and Operations leadership to identify and correct safety concerns.
- Ensure required inspections, logs, incident reports, and safety documentation are completed accurately.
- Respond appropriately to emergencies, injuries, severe weather, facility issues, and other critical situations.
- Ensure employees receive required safety and operational training.
- Immediately communicate significant incidents or safety concerns to Corporate leadership.
Leadership & Staff Management
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, develop, schedule, coach, and manage employees.
- Provide clear expectations and accountability to department managers and supervisors.
- Conduct regular management meetings and communicate company goals, expectations, and operational updates.
- Monitor employee attendance, performance, productivity, and conduct.
- Address performance issues consistently and in accordance with company policies.
- Recognize and develop high-performing employees and future leaders.
- Ensure all employees are properly trained before performing assigned duties.
- Maintain a professional, respectful, and positive workplace environment.
Financial & Labor Management
- Manage the park within established revenue, labor, and operating expense goals.
- Monitor daily admissions, food and beverage, retail, parking, and other revenue streams.
- Review daily financial and operational reports and identify trends or variances.
- Monitor labor hours and staffing levels to ensure payroll remains within established targets.
- Approve or adjust schedules based on business needs and expected attendance.
- Control operating expenses while maintaining required service, safety, and cleanliness standards.
- Report significant financial or operational variances to Corporate leadership.
- Protect company assets, cash, inventory, equipment, and property.
Guest Experience
- Ensure guests receive professional, friendly, and consistent service.
- Monitor guest satisfaction and address complaints or concerns promptly.
- Maintain a visible management presence throughout the park.
- Establish service expectations for all employees.
- Identify opportunities to improve guest flow, wait times, cleanliness, communication, and overall guest experience.
- Handle escalated guest situations professionally and document significant incidents when necessary.
Maintenance & Facility Standards
- Partner with Maintenance leadership to ensure facilities, attractions, equipment, restrooms, grounds, and common areas are maintained properly.
- Ensure maintenance concerns are reported, tracked, and addressed promptly.
- Conduct regular facility inspections.
- Ensure the park remains clean, organized, stocked, and ready for guests.
- Assist with preparation for opening, special events, inspections, and seasonal transitions.
Reporting & Communication
- Complete and review required daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
- Communicate park performance, staffing concerns, safety incidents, maintenance issues, guest concerns, and financial results to Corporate leadership.
- Maintain accurate operational records and documentation.
- Participate in leadership meetings and company initiatives.
- Communicate effectively with employees, vendors, guests, management, and Corporate leadership.
SEASONAL & OFF-SEASON RESPONSIBILITIES
Because waterparks operate on a seasonal schedule, the General Manager is responsible for supporting the park throughout the operating season and during the off-season.
During the off-season, responsibilities may include:
- Supervising park shutdown and seasonal transition activities.
- Ensuring facilities, equipment, inventory, and grounds are properly secured and maintained.
- Completing employee evaluations and staffing plans for the following season.
- Assist with hiring and recruitment for the upcoming season.
- Reviewing operational performance and identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Supporting maintenance, capital projects, inspections, training, and park preparation.
- Maintaining required administrative and operational responsibilities even when the park is closed to the public.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in hot, humid, rainy, and changing weather conditions.
- Ability to move throughout the entire waterpark and facility grounds during the workday.
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and supplies.
- Ability to respond quickly to operational and emergency situations.
- Ability to work extended hours, weekends, holidays, and varying schedules during the operating season.
WORK SCHEDULE
This is a full-time, seasonal operations leadership position. The General Manager must maintain a flexible schedule based on park operations and business needs.
During the operating season, the position requires regular weekend and holiday availability, including peak operating periods. The General Manager may be required to work extended hours based on attendance, special events, weather conditions, staffing needs, or operational requirements.
Weekday public closures do not necessarily constitute scheduled days off and may require the General Manager to report to work for staffing, maintenance, administrative, training, preparation, or other business needs.

Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in Business, Hospitality, Recreation Management, Operations, or related field preferred.
- 3-5 years of management experience in a high-volume hospitality, amusement, recreation, entertainment, hotel, restaurant, or waterpark environment preferred.
- Previous supervisory or General Manager experience strongly preferred.
- Experience managing seasonal employees and large teams preferred.
- Experience with labor scheduling, budgeting, financial reporting and operational performance.
- Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to make sound decisions in a fast‑paced environment.
- Ability to manage multiple departments and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, payroll/timekeeping systems, and other business software.
- Current CPR/AED/First Aid certification preferred or ability to obtain required certifications.
