Emagine Entertainment is seeking a General Manager for the Birmingham locations (Palladium and 8 theatres). The role leads theatre operations and staff to deliver exceptional guest experiences and strong business performance.

The General Manager will oversee Box Office, In-Theatre Sales, maintenance, safety, and vendor relations, while driving budget ownership and strategic initiatives to uphold brand standards and guest satisfaction.

  • Provide strategic leadership to Theatre Managers, ensuring maintenance of projection/sound, building repair, and facilities management.
  • Oversee orientation for new Cast Members on concessions and best practices.
  • Brand ambassador promoting company values and purpose; drive labor management and scheduling.
  • Foster collaboration among managers to achieve goals and ensure health and safety program adherence.
  • Lead vendor relations with Cinema Support Center; drive budget ownership and cost optimization.
  • Manage theatre budget, present annual budget, and coordinate local and national initiatives.
  • Oversee Box Office tasks, scheduling, payroll, and event execution; develop marketing strategies and gift card sales.
  • Coordinate In-Theatre Sales and CSR initiatives; manage inventory; ensure food safety certifications.

Job description

The General Manager position provides overall leadership and direction for theatre operations, ensuring strong business performance while delivering exceptional guest experiences for Both Birmingham Palladium & Birmingham 8 locations. This role leads both people and operations, fostering a guest-focused, team-oriented culture centered on continuous improvement, accountability, and results.

The General Manager is responsible for creating an environment where team members are empowered to exceed guest expectations, operate efficiently, and contribute to the overall success and growth of the theatre.

Key Accountabilities
Management
  • Understand and assist with the execution of daily operational policies and procedures including the seamless execution of In-Theatre Sales, Box Office, Experience, as well as Manager on Duty (MOD) responsibilities.
  • Leading by example as Manager on Duty, ensuring that all Theatre Managers and Assistant Managers lead from the front by supporting the Cast Members and working along side them.
  • Provide strategic leadership and direction to Theatre Managers, Assistant Managers and Cast Members, ensuring effective management of projection and sound maintenance, building repair, and overall maintenance activities.
  • Conduct and oversee the proper execution of orientation sessions for new Cast Members, with a focus on concession operations and best practices.
  • Brand ambassador, both internally and externally, and drives behaviors that support the companies core values and purpose.
  • Execute effective labor management strategies in line with the Labor Models and Forecasts to optimize staff deployment and operational efficiency, meeting the needs of the theatre.
  • Foster a collaborative working environment with Theatre Managers, promoting teamwork and effective communication to achieve organizational goals.
  • Ensure the implementation and adherence to Health and Safety Programs and Initiatives across the theatre, including certification processes and vendor and contractor compliance.
  • Leads Health and Safety or Life Safety Policies and preparedness to respond in the event of an emergency as required, ensuring the team is equipped to respond in the event of an emergency.
  • Consistently demonstrates the ability to lead by example by offering coaching and development opportunities, transparent and supportive communications, actively engaging and connecting with the team, being inclusive to all guests, and demonstrating willingness to work collaboratively.
  • Leads Vendor Relations in partnership with the Cinema Support Center.
  • Fosters a business-ownership mentality driving results through budget ownership and creative solutions to increase revenue or decrease costs.
  • Responsible for the theatre-level budget, presentation of the annual budget, and execution of local and national initiatives.
Box Office
  • Responsible for the seamless execution of Box Office tasks for the theatre, including movie scheduling, acting as a liaison with the Programming team, and ensuring maximum box office is achieved each week.
  • Oversee Cast and Management scheduling, payroll, labor management, cash office operations, and event execution to ensure smooth and efficient theatre operations.
  • Develop and implement marketing strategies, the promotion of premium concepts, and manage sales of tickets and gift cards.
In-Theatre Sales
  • Provide strategic oversight and coordination of all In-Theatre Sales.
  • Execute and support monthly CSR initiatives, overseeing inventory management to ensure accurate tracking and availability of items.
  • Ensure all Managers and Cast Members are certified in food safety, maintaining high standards of food safety protocols to ensure a safe and sanitary environment for both staff and Guests.
Experience
  • Oversee the maintenance of projection equipment, manage booth supplies, ensuring all technical aspects are functioning optimally, monitor and coordinate preventive maintenance schedules for lighting systems, HVAC, and other critical infrastructure projects across the theatres.
  • Supervise the timely ordering and restocking of building, cleaning, and office supplies, ensuring all theatres are adequately equipped.
  • Lead and assist in managing theatre renovation projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to budget and quality standards.
