Job description

Made in America is a high-margin, high-integrity platform at an inflection point. With a strong foundation of Tier 1 A&D customers and modern equipment, it is primed for scale. As the company enters a phase of transformational growth, we are hiring a General Manager to lead its Austin-based precision machining facility. This individual will have full responsibility for the site’s financial performance, operations, quality, and commercial execution, serving as the primary leader on the ground and a key partner to the CEO.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role offering the opportunity to own and scale a manufacturing operation, drive performance, and build a high-performing team. The General Manager will play a critical role in executing site-level strategy, strengthening customer relationships, and ensuring alignment between production capabilities and growth objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Own full P&L performance of the Austin facility, including revenue growth, cost management, and overall profitability; ensure alignment between financial targets and operational execution.
  • Lead all aspects of site operations, including manufacturing, quality, production planning, and scheduling, with accountability for throughput, on-time delivery, and overall production efficiency.
  • Oversee and develop all customer relationships, managing account managers and acting as the final escalation point for customer issues; ensure high levels of customer satisfaction while driving commercial outcomes.
  • Drive commercial execution and revenue growth by partnering with sales and leadership to strengthen existing accounts, negotiate contracts, and support the expansion of key customer relationships.
  • Serve as a hands-on leader ("player/coach"), maintaining a strong presence on the floor while also engaging with executive leadership to ensure alignment on performance and priorities.
  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing cross-functional team, setting clear expectations, coaching leaders, and ensuring accountability across operations, quality, sales, and planning.
  • Design and implement organizational structure and talent strategy, ensuring the right people are in the right roles and identifying opportunities to add or upgrade talent as the business scales.
  • Lead capacity planning and resource allocation, aligning labor, equipment, and production capabilities with customer demand and revenue targets.
  • Establish and manage key KPIs and operational metrics (e.g., on-time delivery, quality, throughput, cost of poor quality), using data to drive performance and decision-making.
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement, implementing best practices such as Lean, 5S, and process discipline to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance quality.
  • Partner with executive leadership on site-level strategy execution, translating broader company objectives into actionable plans for the Austin facility.
  • Provide proactive communication with the CEO, including regular updates on performance, risks, operational challenges, and growth opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety, quality, and regulatory standards, maintaining a culture of accountability and operational excellence.
  • Lead problem-solving and escalation management, responding quickly to operational or customer issues while implementing long-term solutions to prevent recurrence.

SKILLS + EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in metal contact manufacturing or related industries.
  • Background in precision machining or aerospace & defense (A&D) would be preferred.
  • Proven experience managing full P&L responsibility and driving financial performance.
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and scaling operations in rapid-growth environments.
  • Strong operational and commercial acumen, with the ability to balance production, quality, and customer needs.
  • Experience managing customer relationships and negotiations in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to build, develop, and lead cross-functional teams.
  • High level of ownership, accountability, and autonomy.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to partner closely with executive leadership.
