Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions, LLC is seeking a maintenance professional to provide after-hours on-call service at BEQ housing on MCAS Miramar in San Diego, CA. The role includes responding to plumbing, HVAC, lighting and other housing issues during on-call shifts.

The position requires hands-on use of hand and power tools, a high school diploma, and the ability to communicate well with diverse teams. Citizenship or legal residency and a valid driver's license are mandatory.

Position Location

Position is located onsite in San Diego, CA.

Job Overview

Provides on-call after hours general maintenance response to service calls at the MCAS Miramar Bachelor Enlisted Quarters (BEQs). May perform additional general maintenance duties assigned by the supervisor.

Typical month includes 2 weekday shifts that begin at 4:00pm, and end at 7:30am the next day. One or two weekend shifts per month, depending on the rotation, which begin Friday at 4:00pm, and end on Monday at 7:00am.

Schedule

Mon - Thurs 4pm-6am (On-Call with 1hr response to site).

Friday 4pm - Monday morning 6am (On-Call with 1hr response to site).

Responsibilities

Essential Job Duties

• On-call phone must be picked up from the BEQ office at the start of the shift at 4:00pm.
• Respond to general maintenance service calls within 1 hour on BEQ contract, which includes plumbing, (sink clogs, toilets, etc) HVAC, lock battery replacements, lighting, pest, and other general bachelor quarter housing issues.
• If a call is received, the GMW receives one hour for equipment pick up, and one hour for equipment drop off.
• Weekday shift begins at 4:00pm, and ends at 7:30am the next day. Weekend shift start at 4:00pm on Fridays, and end at 7:30am the following Monday.
• Follow established safety procedures and utilizes safety protective equipment and clothing that pertain to particular trades and skills.
• Ensure proper housekeeping practices are observed.
• Perform duties in a timely, cost effective manner.

Rate of Pay: $24.86/hr + Health & Welfare Fringe cash-out.

Job Requirements

Mandatory

• Hands-on experience with various hand tools and power tools, including knowledge of equipment capabilities, limitations, and safety factors.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Ability to deal with a variety of people in a professional and courteous manner in diversified situations.
• Must have good communication skills, both oral and written.
• Must have excellent organizational skills.
• Be a U.S. Citizen or legal resident alien.
• Valid state driver’s license with excellent driving record (must provide current driving record).

Preferred

• Formal training through apprenticeship or vocational school.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed mostly indoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
• Work hours are subject to change, with weekend work or long hours as needed.
• Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors and elevated noise levels.
• Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard and soft-carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces.
