Job summary

Chugach Government Solutions in San Diego, CA is hiring a General Maintenance Worker to perform routine interior and exterior upkeep, low voltage systems, and equipment maintenance at Miramar BSSC facilities. You will follow blueprints and instructions, replace parts, patch walls, and ensure safe, orderly work sites.

Required are three years in trades, OSHA 30-Hour, ability to read plans, and a valid driver’s license; U.S. citizenship or work eligibility is necessary.

Qualifications

• Three years experience in the trades industry service and maintenance operations.
• OSHA 30-Hour Training for General Industry (or ability to complete within 120-calendar days of hire).
• Must be able to read and interpret plans, schematics specifications, operating and maintenance manuals, codes, and regulations.
• General knowledge of hand and power tools.
• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Valid class C state driver’s license with suitable driving record (must provide current driving record).
• Must be able to don required personal protective equipment.
• Ability to pass and maintain cleared background check.
• US Citizen or ability to legally work in the US.

Responsibilities

• Assists Supervisor on assigned tasks to perform Preventative Maintenance and Service Call response on MCAS BSSC units and equipment.
• Manage and maintain all furnishings, appliances and equipment, and Chugach warehouse facilities and inventories.
• Coordinate disposal of government assets that are in excess or to be replaced.
• Works from blueprints, drawings, models, or verbal and written instructions.
• Follows established safety procedures and utilize safety protective equipment and clothing that pertain to trades and skills.
• Replace various parts, equipment, and various filters.
• Use plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
• Replace electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
• Repair or replace various BSSC equipment as needed.
• Paint facilities, structures and/or equipment as identified.
• Replace damaged paneling and floor tiles.
• Perform general maintenance on equipment, machinery, and vehicles.
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are observed.
• Respond to emergency site maintenance as required.
• Inspect and diagnose problems to determine corrective repairs.
• Perform on call and preventive maintenance duties as necessary.
• Ensures proper housekeeping practices are strictly observed.
• Assist in any trade when necessary to accomplish maintenance activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Job Overview

The General Maintenance Worker performs general maintenance and repair of interior and exterior of buildings, low voltage electrical systems, and components associated with Miramar BSSC facilities and equipment. Additionally, maintain all furnishings, appliances, and equipment along with warehouse facilities and inventories. Keeps supervisor informed of unique situations and problems encountered.

Working Conditions

• Work is performed mostly indoors. Outdoor work is subject to temperature extremes and inclement weather conditions.
• Work hours are subject to change, with weekend work or overtime as needed.
• Subject to hazards that may cause personal bodily harm; diseases, cuts, bruises, burns, common colds, influenza, dust, odors, and elevated noise levels.
• Tasks may be performed on uneven, inclined, hard, and soft‑carpeted floors, cement structures and surfaces, including use of ladders and access passages to rooftops and elevated HVAC units.
• Must be able to work under, in or around buildings, structures, or fixtures, such as ducting systems, attics or crawl spaces.
