Job summary

NIKA is hiring a General Maintenance Worker (GMW) to support the Mission Support Client at MCMWTC in Bridgeport, CA. This role sits fully onsite and may offer relocation for the right candidate.

The technician will perform general maintenance and repair across HVAC, electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and related trades, ensuring facilities are safe and functional. Strong hands-on skills and a valid driver’s license are required.

Qualifications

• High school education or GED preferred.
• They shall be trained and certified on the equipment and software on which they are working from an industry-recognized trainer.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• General maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings in HVAC, electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and related trades.
• Replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors; patching holes; repairing sinks, water coolers, toilets; painting; repairing floors and doors; installing locks and window panes; general equipment/machinery maintenance.

Job Description

• General maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings require practical skill and knowledge in such trades as HVAC, electrical, painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
• Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
