Job summary

The Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa's Public Works – General Maintenance team is hiring for a day-labor, non-exempt position located onsite. The role reports to the General Maintenance Supervisor and offers a probationary period of 90 days (full-time) or 120 days (part-time).

You will operate power tools and equipment such as lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws (where certified), and perform preparatory and cleanup work, loading materials, and maintaining a safe, organized work

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Experience with lawn mowers, weed whips, rakes, shovels and power tools is desired.
• No driver’s license required; US Class D license desired.

Responsibilities

• Operates power tools and equipment for maintenance tasks (lawn mowers, weed whips, chainsaws if certified).
• Prepares materials and equipment for projects; loads/unloads materials.
• Completes routine labor tasks and cleans work areas at day end or when job is completed.
• Attends mandatory department trainings and maintains a professional demeanor.

Division/Department: Public Works – General MaintenanceLocation: Public Works - OnsiteReports To: General Maintenance SupervisorProbationary Period: 90 days – Full time; 120 days – Part timeFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)Classification: Day-Labor; No ComplianceDriver’s License: Level 0 - No Driver’s License required.Rate of Pay: $17.31 to $19.47 hourlyResponsibilities: Performs various tasks using power tools and equipment to include but not limited to lawn mowers, weed trimmers, chainsaws (if certified) etc.Performs preparatory work for maintenance activities including gathering equipment, material and supplies, loading and unloading materials, and laying out material and equipment for projects.Performs a variety of routine physical labor tasks depending upon area of assignment.Performs cleanup at end of the day or when the job is completed, including picking up tools, debris and proper disposal, cleaning work areas and performing touch up work as needed.Appropriate work attire is required.Must attend all mandatory department trainings.Ensures confidentiality of financial records and all records for employees and/or clients.Displays a responsive and professional manner in promptly responding to all requests, complaints, and problems.Recognizes that each employee is a representative of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and is responsible for demonstrating courtesy, respect, and sensitivity to the needs of all others, including visitors and co-workers.Represents the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the department in a positive and professional manner in the communityRequired to maintain proper attendance including reporting to work on time in accordance with applicable policies.Maintains a clean and organized work area.Due to changes and modifications in the job from time to time, employees are required to be flexible and assume other responsibilities assigned by management as deemed necessary.Qualifications: No Driver’s License required.
