Job summary

Snow College in Ephraim, Utah seeks a grounds technician to plant, prune, weed, irrigate, and maintain campus landscape beds under general supervision. You will also assist with plumbing, heating, and electrical repairs and must follow safety policies while working from heights on diverse tasks.

Flexible to weekend work and on-call shifts may apply. The role requires at least one year of grounds experience, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and proficiency with basic tools.

Responsibilities

  • Under general supervision, plant, maintain, and enhance campus landscape beds.
  • Duties include pruning, planting, weeding, bed cleanup, irrigation equipment maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on commercial and residential plumbing, heating, and electrical equipment.
  • Must learn and observe all safety regulations and policies.
  • Work from heights on various tasks.

Job description

  • One-year of Grounds experience, required; flower and shrub care experience preferred as well as basic plumbing.
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Computer skills
  • Must have experience and knowledge operating general construction power and hand tools.
  • Must have the ability to read and write basic English
  • Must have the ability to follow simple oral and written instructions
  • Some supervisory experience, desired
  • Familiarity with common grounds methods Mowing, Line trimming, Edging, Irrigation, pruning, planting.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds easily, lift and move heavy equipment and furnishings, be able to climb ladders and work from heights of 20 ft. or more, and be able to spend hours at a time weeding planter beds.
  • Willing to establish and maintain working relations with supervisors, coworkers, and students
  • Mechanical abilities
  • Maintaining/cleaning equipment, repairs, troubleshooting problems, proper use of tools
  • Must pass a criminal background check Must be able to keep accurate records
  • Familiarity with common Plumbing, HVAC and Electrical practices.
  • Must be self-motivated
  • Must be able to work in harsh conditions such as hot and cold weather, loud areas, and confined spaces.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays if needed
  • Under general supervision, plant, maintain, and enhance campus landscape beds.
  • Duties include, but are not limited to, Pruning, Planting, Weeding, Bed Cleanup, Irrigation Equipment maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on commercial and residential plumbing, heating, and electrical equipment.
  • Must learn and observe all safety regulations and policies.
  • Work from heights on various tasks.
  • Ability to rebuild, replace, repair, and troubleshoot electrical motors, pumps, and fans.
  • Assist in steam and condensate pipe repairs, shoveling, and working in adverse conditions.
  • Must be willing to work weekends.
  • Assist in day to day plumbing and heating repairs or preventive maintenance when needed
  • Must take weekly shifts for being on call for grounds duties.
  • Supervise student workers
  • Repair and install all types of flooring, carpet, Formica, tile, or any other flooring.
  • Perform carpentry duties: cabinets, countertops, tables, bookcases.
  • Remodel and construction including: framing, sheetrock, painting, finish work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule: M-F 6AM-2:30PM
