Job summary

Empire Abrasive Equipment Co. in Bucks County, PA seeks a General Maintenance/Utility Assistant to support shop operations and perform light facility maintenance. You will help keep the plant clean, conduct routine preventive maintenance on equipment, and perform daily forklift inspections.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in manufacturing maintenance, basic electrical/plumbing knowledge, and familiarity with hand and power tools. Excellent time management and teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years in manufacturing maintenance and preventive maintenance on typical equipment.
• Basics of electrical and plumbing principles.
• Experience operating forklift trucks and other material handling equipment.
• Good mechanical aptitude and desire/ability to learn.
• Familiar with basic hand and power tools.
• Detail and quality oriented; strong time management and communication.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of the plant and support shop operations.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on shop equipment and facilities.
• Conduct daily forklift inspections and complete inspection logs.
• Renew floor lines and support housekeeping as needed.
• Assist with other activities as assigned.

About this position

General Maintenance/Utility Assistant

Position Summary Complete a variety of tasks in support of shop operations and perform light facility maintenance as needed

Position Responsibilities

• Perform duties and tasks to maintain the cleanliness of the physical plant including but not limited to:
  • Empty trash cans into outside dumpsters
  • Maintain and organize hose storage area
  • Use floor sweeper daily to maintain the cleanliness of the plant floor
  • Vacuum any plumbing overflows and unclog plumbing fixtures
• Perform routine preventative maintenance activities on shop equipment including wash and paint booth, safety PPE, and other facility systems
• Conduct daily forklift inspections, maintain proper battery water levels, and complete written inspection logs
• Maintain floor lines and renew as required
• Other activities as assigned

Essential Skills and Experience

• 2-3 years prior experience working in a manufacturing environment performing general maintenance and preventive maintenance activities on typical manufacturing and industrial equipment
• Demonstrated knowledge of basic electrical and plumbing principles
• Experience operating forklift trucks and other material handling equipment
• Good mechanical aptitude and desire/ability to learn
• Familiarity and understanding of basic hand and power tools
• Detail and quality oriented
• Good communication and time management skills

Beneficial Skills and Experience

• High School diploma, or equivalent
• Intermediate/advanced knowledge of electrical, HVAC and plumbing principles

Physical Requirements

• Work environment includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment including safety glasses, and hearing and foot protection.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 lbs.

Must be able to bend, stoop, and stand for extended periods of time

Salary Information

$23 - $27Hourly Wage
