Position Summary Under the direction of the Assistant Facilities Manager or designated supervisor, the Maintenance Helper supports qualified electricians, mechanics, and other skilled craft personnel with assigned maintenance activities. This position is intended to perform support-level work that allows skilled craft personnel to remain focused on troubleshooting, repairs, preventive maintenance, projects, and other duties requiring technical experience or qualifications.
Job Responsibilities
- Support mechanical and electrical maintenance activities under appropriate supervision.
- Assist qualified craft personnel with assigned maintenance work.
- Pick up, deliver, transport, and organize parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Stage tools, equipment, parts, and materials for maintenance jobs.
- Carry tools and equipment between storage areas and designated work locations.
- Assist with preventive maintenance activities as directed.
- Support maintenance shutdowns, projects, and other planned maintenance activities.
- Assist with basic equipment preparation, cleaning, lubrication, and related maintenance support tasks.
- Help dismantle or assemble equipment when directed and supervised by qualified maintenance personnel.
- Maintain clean and organized maintenance shops, tool rooms, storage areas, and workspaces.
- Return tools, equipment, unused materials, and parts to the appropriate storage areas.
- Perform general housekeeping and cleanup during and after maintenance activities.
- Assist with loading and unloading maintenance parts, materials, tools, and equipment.
- Follow all safety procedures, work instructions, and supervisor directions.
- Properly use required personal protective equipment.
- Report unsafe conditions, damaged tools, equipment concerns, and maintenance hazards to the appropriate supervisor.
- Perform other maintainencesupport duties as assigned.

Knowledge and Work Experience
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- General knowledge of industrial or plant safety practices.
- Basic understanding of common hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
- Three or more months of industrial, construction, maintenancesupport, general labor, or related experience preferred.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, terminal, warehouse, shop, or industrial environment is preferred but not required.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Ability to work safely under the supervision of qualified maintenance personnel.
- Ability to identify when work requires additional technical knowledge, authorization, or supervision.
- Ability to safely handle, transport, and organize tools, parts, equipment, and materials.
- Ability to read and understand applicable safety information, labels, and Safety Data Sheets.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, maintenance personnel, and other team members.
- Ability to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

- Occasionally required to lift or move up to 50 pounds with appropriate assistance or equipment.
- May be required to work indoors and outdoors in varying environmental conditions.
- May be required to stand or walk for extended periods.
- Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment.
