Job Summary

Supports Facilities Services by performing various maintenance functions, such as HVAC, electrical, carpentry, plumbing, and miscellaneous duties as assigned. Performs routine and emergency situations with minimal supervision and follows established, standard practices.

Duties/Responsibilities
  • Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, perform general repair and maintenance on structures, facilities, and equipment.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on structures, facilities, and equipment according to established schedules.
  • Assist skilled maintenance personnel in projects involving electrical, plumbing, flooring, roofing, drywall, HVAC, carpentry, and masonry.
  • Respond to emergency requests to perform routine repairs and adjustments to buildings and facilities.
  • Install shelving, bulletin boards, and repair furniture and equipment.
  • Maintain routine records and logs related to maintenance activities.
  • Attend all assigned meetings.
  • Use computers to submit time off requests and comply with departmental policies.
Required Skills/Abilities
  • High school diploma or equivalent and five years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certifications in electrical/HVAC/mechanics or welding are preferred.
  • Valid MO driver’s license and acceptable driving record; ability to operate vehicle on campus.
  • Ability to operate equipment such as forklifts, volt meters, manifold gauges, and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of electrical, gas, water systems, welding, and ability to read labels, measurements, and logs.
  • Ability to react quickly, coordinate tasks, and identify wire and chemical colors.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 100 pounds occasionally; ability to perform physical tasks such as walking, climbing, reaching, and crouching.
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions, including outdoor weather, loud noise, and exposure to chemicals and mechanical parts.
Education and Experience

High school diploma or equivalent with five years of related experience; certifications in relevant trades are a plus.

Physical Requirements

Frequent walking, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Occasional standing, handling, talking, and hearing. Ability to lift/move heavy objects as specified. Exposure to outdoor weather, mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, and noise.
