East Central University seeks a skilled carpenter for various interior and exterior maintenance tasks. Responsibilities include renovations, repairs, cabinetmaking, and handling maintenance tasks across campus facilities. Candidates must have a high school diploma or technical training in carpentry, alongside proficient tool handling and safety knowledge. Physical capability to lift over 50 lbs and work in various conditions is required.
Performs interior and exterior building operations, renovations, and repairs to campus buildings within the carpentry field. Responsible for repairs and maintenance of buildings, including general carpentry, cabinet and shelf making, walls, doors, floors, and mechanical devices such as door openers.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Must demonstrate a strong work ethic, professionalism, and ethical conduct, representing the institution positively both internally and in the community. Physical ability to lift over 50 lbs, work in various weather conditions, and communicate courteously is required.

Education and Experience
Required: High school diploma or equivalent, plus technical training in carpentry and maintenance or two years of experience as a carpenter or maintenance technician.
Certificates, Licenses, and Registrations
Valid Oklahoma driver’s license required. Must communicate fluently in English via two-way radio and interpret safety and operational documents.
Skills and Abilities
Proficiency with hand and power tools, chemical safety knowledge, and organizational skills are essential.
Physical Demands
Regular standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling. Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment
Work near mechanical parts, at heights, and exposure to chemicals, electrical hazards, and noise are typical. Accommodations are available for those with disabilities.
