Job Summary:

Bizzell US is seeking an experienced General Maintenance Technician to join our Facilities Maintenance and Management team at NASA AMES. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the efficient and safe operation of the JPL campus facilities.

Requirements

Responsibilities:

• Perform routine maintenance and repairs on building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, and mechanical systems.

• Conduct regular inspections of facilities to identify and resolve issues.

• Perform preventive maintenance tasks to ensure the longevity and reliability of equipment and building systems.

• Collaborate with the facilities maintenance team to support overall campus operations.

• Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Respond to emergency maintenance calls and provide solutions on time.

• Utilize hand and power tools, as well as specialized maintenance equipment.

• Maintain accurate records of work performed and materials used.

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations.

• Participate in ongoing training and development programs to stay current with industry standards and best practices.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an apprenticeship program or vocational training in a related field preferred.

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in general maintenance with a strong emphasis on facilities maintenance.

• Extensive knowledge of building systems, materials, and tools.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals.

• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

• Physical ability to perform the duties of the job, including lifting heavy objects and working in confined spaces.

• Familiarity with health and safety regulations related to facilities maintenance.

• Previous experience working in a high-tech or research facility preferred.

• Certification in a specific maintenance trade (e.g., HVAC, plumbing, electrical) is a plus.

• Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is preferred.

• Knowledge of green building practices and sustainability initiatives preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at a time.
