Job summary

CMT is hiring a Maintenance Technician in New Jersey. The role covers general maintenance, painting, carpentry, plumbing, and light electrical tasks in a manufacturing facility, with documentation in the maintenance system and adherence to safety protocols.

Job description

*This position works a schedule of Monday thru Fridayfrom 6:30am-3:00pm. The hiring range is between $18.00 - $32.00 per hour depending on experience*

What You Will Own

• Perform general maintenance and repairs across the facility: painting, patching, carpentry, plumbing fixtures, and light electrical work.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks on schedule and document them accurately in our maintenance management system.
• Respond to facility work orders and report equipment failures, unsafe conditions, and maintenance needs to the Facilities Leader without delay.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in common areas, restrooms, and grounds.
• Support equipment moves, installations, and decommissioning as directed.
• Follow all OSHA safety procedures, lockout/tagout requirements, and PPE standards on every task, every time.

What You Bring

Must-have:

• High school diploma or GED (trade or vocational certificate a plus).
• Ability to perform hands-on maintenance tasks: basic carpentry, painting, patching, plumbing fixtures, and light electrical under supervision.
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing environment on a regular schedule with occasional support needs outside normal hours.
• Reliable, detail-oriented, and able to document completed work accurately.
• Familiar with OSHA safety basics, including lockout/tagout and PPE requirements.

Nice-to-have (for Level II or III candidates):

• 2 or more years of hands-on facilities or building maintenance experience.
• Skilled troubleshooting and repair on HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, or compressed air equipment.
• Forklift or aerial lift certification.
• Experience coordinating with outside vendors and contractors.
• 5 or more years of experience with the ability to mentor junior technicians and lead maintenance projects independently.
