Job summary

WinnCompanies is seeking a General Maintenance Technician to join our military housing team at Fort Wainwright, AK. You will perform maintenance across rental units, office buildings, and grounds, handling building systems and completing on-call repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Less than 1–3 years of relevant work experience.
• Current driver’s license in good standing with driving record acceptable.
• Basic competency in carpentry, plumbing, and electrical trades.
• Ability to provide basic tools and equipment for daily duties.
• Basic familiarity with computers and tablets.
• Excellent customer service skills and English literacy.
• Ability to read and write in English and follow directions from supervisors.
• This position is located at a federal facility; REAL ID compliance required by May 7, 2025.

Responsibilities

• Respond to service calls and complete maintenance requests.
• Transport, install and connect appliances (stoves, refrigerators, etc.).
• Move supplies and materials to proper locations.
• Repair and fabricate window and door screens and frames.
• Operate power tools and lawn equipment; clean work areas.
• Update work order status with time, materials and notes.
• Keep supervisor informed of activities and potential issues.
• Maintain vehicle and vehicle inventory as prescribed.
