We are looking for a reliable and skilled Maintenance Specialist to ensure the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of our laboratory, administrative, and warehouse facility areas.

The General Maintenance Specialist is responsible for performing a wide range of general and preventative maintenance tasks throughout the facility. This role involves basic repairs, routine upkeep of utilities and equipment, and ensuring the physical infrastructure remains in excellent working order to maintain a compliant environment.

Key Responsibilities
General Facility & Infrastructure Repair
  • Perform routine and urgent general maintenance tasks, including repairing/replacing interior and exterior doors, basic plumbing repairs (e.g., toilets, sinks, faucets), and patching drywall.
  • Conduct minor electrical work, such as replacing light fixtures, ballasts, and outlets (within scope of training and local regulations).
  • Maintain and repair office furniture, fixtures, and common area appliances (e.g., refrigerators, microwaves).
  • Handle general tasks such as painting, floor repair, and moving heavy equipment or furniture as needed.
HVAC & Utility Monitoring
  • Monitor and conduct basic preventative maintenance on HVAC units (changing filters, cleaning coils) to support critical temperature and pressure controls in compounding areas.
  • Maintain utility systems, including monitoring water heaters and basic drainage systems.
  • Coordinate with external, specialized HVAC and facilities vendors for complex repairs related to critical systems (e.g., cleanroom certification, specialized exhaust).
Equipment & Appliance Upkeep
  • Perform preventative maintenance and minor repairs on lab support equipment and common area appliances (e.g., fridges, freezers, dishwashers).
  • Ensure all equipment is functioning correctly and safely, minimizing downtime for compounding operations.
Safety & Compliance
  • Assist in maintaining facility safety equipment, including regular checks of fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, and exit signs.
  • Ensure all maintenance activities are conducted in a safe manner, adhering to all company policies and cGMP standards, especially when working near or in compounding areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities performed.
Qualifications
Experience & Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Familiarity with the maintenance requirements of a regulated environment (pharmaceutical, healthcare, or food production) and equipment including autoclaves, BSCs, LAFWs, pumps etc. is highly desirable.
  • Comfort with spreadsheets and maintenance tracking/logging software (e.g. Excel, CMMS platforms) a plus
Physical Requirements & Skills

  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose common mechanical and facility issues independently.
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize repair tasks.
  • Willingness and ability to gown and work within cleanroom environments for extended periods
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and stand/walk for extended periods.
