Job summary

Hyatt Centric Key West Resort and Spa is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to maintain the resort’s guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas.

This hands-on role requires strong technical skills, quick troubleshooting, and the ability to support resort operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years of maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel or resort setting.
• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
• Pool Operator Certification (CPO) or willingness to obtain.
• Ability to diagnose issues and perform repairs independently.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work outdoors/in varying weather.
• Comfort with after-hours maintenance as needed.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities.
• Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues.
• Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment and facilities remain in safe working condition.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and internal departments.
• Assist with pool, spa, and exterior maintenance as needed.
• Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders.
• Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and Hyatt brand standards.
• Coordinate with supervisors and external vendors when advanced repairs are required.
• Support emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls as scheduled.

Summary

The General Maintenance Engineer is responsible for maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and appearance of the resort by performing routine maintenance, repairs, and preventative upkeep of guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This mid-level role requires hands-on technical skill, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to support resort operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform routine and corrective maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities
