Job summary

Hyatt Centric Key West is seeking a General Maintenance Engineer to maintain guest rooms, public spaces, and back-of-house areas. This mid-level role requires hands-on technical skill, strong troubleshooting abilities, and the flexibility to support resort operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Key responsibilities include routine and corrective maintenance, electrical/plumbing/HVAC repairs, preventative inspections, guest request response, and coordination with vendors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2–3 years of maintenance or engineering experience in a hotel or resort setting.
  • Working knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and general building maintenance.
  • Ability to diagnose issues and implement effective repairs independently.
  • Pool Operator Certification (CPO) or willingness to obtain.
  • Strong attention to detail and guest service excellence.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in varying weather conditions.
  • Basic computer skills for work order systems.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine and corrective maintenance on guest rooms, public areas, and back-of-house facilities
  • Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical issues
  • Conduct preventative maintenance inspections to ensure equipment and facilities remain in safe working condition
  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests from guests and internal departments
  • Assist with pool, spa, and exterior maintenance as needed
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and work orders
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, building codes, and Hyatt brand standards
  • Coordinate with supervisors and external vendors when advanced repairs are required
  • Support emergency maintenance situations, including after-hours calls as scheduled

Job description
