Job summary

Mohawk Industries, a leading global flooring manufacturer, seeks a General Maintenance II to perform building repairs and maintenance across electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry tasks. The role supports installation of new equipment, preventative maintenance and safety compliance on a manufacturing floor.

Strong reading of blueprints and ability to lift heavy loads are required. Ideal candidates will have a GED or high school diploma with hands-on maintenance experience, forklift

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent; technical training preferred.
• Experience with general maintenance including mechanical and low-voltage electrical equipment.
• Knowledge of building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC systems; proficient with related tools.
• Forklift operation may be required.
• Ability to read and understand technical documents such as blueprints and schematics.
• Ability to perform basic math and measurements in all units.
• Completion of safety training.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and flexible shifts.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds, walk long distances, climb ladders and stand long periods; work in non-climate controlled facilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform building repairs across electrical, plumbing, painting and carpentry tasks.
• Assist with installation of new equipment and assembly lines.
• Maintain and repair boilers, HVAC units and manufacturing machinery.
• Support plant construction projects and process upgrades.
• Develop and maintain preventative maintenance schedules and vendor coordination.
• Respond to emergencies and complete work orders; assist teams and contractors as needed.
• Possibly perform grounds maintenance and ensure safety compliance.

General Maintenance II

Responsibilities:

• Primary duty and responsibilityisto perform building repairs such as electrical, plumbing,paintingand carpentry, etc. and toassistswith maintenance of heating, air conditioning,ventilationand other building operations. Applies skill,experienceand general knowledge to a wide range of tasks to adjust, repair, disassemble,replaceand reassemble andmaintainequipment or facilities. This includes but is not limited to:
• Assistswith the installation of new equipment and assembly lines
• Installs and size utilities to include electrical conduit, wiring, and piping
• Maintains operations and preventative and emergency maintenance on boilers, air compressors, heating and air conditioning units, manufacturing machinery/equipment, vehicles,etc
• Assistsin construction projects in plant, warehouse and throughout the company
• Develops andmaintainsschedules for routine and preventative maintenance; coordinates andfacilitatesvendor/contractor supported services
• Works with engineers,managersor other project groups to upgrade or install new processes and process equipment.
• Responds to emergencies, work orders and performs scheduled preventative maintenance routines and inspections.Assistteam members, vendors or contactorsinstall, upgrade, trouble shoot and/or diagnose equipment and systems.
• May perform building andgroundsmaintenance, when necessary for backup or in the absence of the regular building andgroundsmaintenance person.
• Stays informed of applicable OSHA and company guidelines and operating procedures. Proactivelyidentifiesandtakes action to correctunsafe working or building conditions and equipment malfunctions and other emergencies, or coordinates with theappropriate department,vendoror contactor to promptly resolve problems and minimize downtime.
• Determinesmaterial requirements and prices, obtains purchaseapprovaland completes requisitions.Determinesfast moving or emergency stand-by items to be stocked andestablishesstock load and reorder points.
• Ensures compliance to all company and regulatory safety and environmental guidelines and practices to include wearing the appropriate safety garments, using the appropriate tools and equipment and exercising the required safety behaviors for the task at hand.
• Maintains work order orservicesrequest logs and othercompany, regulatory and/or vendor reports thatreflectsdepartment activity, equipmentusageand maintenance history, building inspections, etc.
• Due to work assignments may berequiredtodriverto different work sites.

Qualifications:

• High school graduate or GEDequivalencyand related technical trainingrequired. Technical certifications a plus
• Experience performing job specific general maintenance duties thatincludesexperience in maintenance of mechanical and low voltage electrical equipment.
• General knowledge of applicable building, electrical, plumbing, HVAC system, boilers, generators, etc. and proficient using all applicable tools and equipment.
• Experienceoperatinga forklift may berequired
• Possess a technical aptitude to read and understand technical documents and instructions such as,blueprints, electrical schematics, mechanical and machine drawings for installations, troubleshooting and repair
• Reads and writes in standards English and proficient performing basic math calculations such as adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing in all units of measure, including fractions and decimals.
• Successful completion of all training and ability tooperateandperformspreventative maintenance on assigned department equipment, machinery, tools, etc.
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training.
• May berequiredto use PC and other department specific database systems
• Ability to communicate in standard English and to convey information clearly and concisely; to understand and follow verbal or written instructions and to keep simple records and make reports
• Ability to work evenings and weekends and to be reached by pager or phone, 7days/week, 24 hours/day
• Ability tomaintainan acceptable level of attendancein accordance withcompany and department guidelines.

• Ability to performs specific duties with instructions but without direct supervision
• Ability tomaintaina valid driver’s license
• Ability tolift upto 70pounds
• Must be able to walk long distances, climb onladdersand stand forlong periodsof time. Bending,crouchingand stooping may be required. Must also be able to work in non-climate controlledfacilities. Workenvironment is a noisy, high traffic manufacturing production floor. May berequiredtoworka flexible schedule to include evening and night shifts,weekendsand holidays.Willingto work in all types of weather.
