Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Facilities Maintenance Generalist to perform preventative maintenance and general repairs across our warehouses and facilities.

The role requires hands-on work with mechanical, electrical, lighting and dock-related systems, and you will report to the Maintenance Manager. Ideal candidates have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and experience in general maintenance, with a strong safety focus.

Responsibilities

• Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager in the service and repair of facility assets.
• Observes all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
• Performs maintenance and repair of rack systems, dock equipment, lighting, mechanical and electrical systems.
• Performs building maintenance including painting structures, drywall and plaster, masonry work, and grounds maintenance.
• Completes other job-related duties and special projects as required.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Works under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager in the service and repair of all facility assets.
2. Observes all safety and sanitation rules and regulations.
3. Performs maintenance and repair of rack systems, dock equipment, lighting systems, mechanical, electrical and other physical structures.
4. Performs building maintenance requiring painting structures, dry wall and plaster, masonry work and grounds maintenance.
5. Performs other job-related duties and special projects as required.
6. Reports to work when scheduled and on time.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:

1.Proven safety knowledge of repair and machine liability.

1. General maintenance experience a plus

Education and Experience:

High school education or equivalent preferred. Trade school/vocational schooling in related area preferred.

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to perform the physical requirements exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly.

Working Conditions:

The duties of this position are performed in a combination of warehouse and outdoor settings. There is exposure to dirt, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, equipment movement hazards, dangerous chemical or solvents, and electrical shock.

Equipment Used to Perform Job:

Must provide own hand tools. Standard shop or repair tools including hammer drill, grinders, welder, drills, skill saw, and chop saw. Frequently operates tractor, stacker, and pallet jack.
