Job summary

Oliver James is seeking a Claims Examiner for General Liability to manage mid to complex CGL claims across a diverse portfolio, from first notice through resolution. The role emphasizes coverage analysis, litigation strategy, and stakeholder management in a hybrid work environment.

The ideal candidate has 3+ years of CGL claims experience, with a background at a reputable carrier or law firm, and a relevant bachelor's degree.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Commercial General Liability claims experience (premises/product/slip & falls).
• Experience with other liability claims such as construction BI, NYLL, or builders risk beneficial.
• Strong exposure to coverage investigation and litigated files.
• Background with a reputable carrier or law firm.
• Bachelor's degree required; industry designations (AIC, CPCU, etc.) are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Handle complex CGL claims including premises liability, slip & falls and other bodily injury cases.
• Handle coverage matters including writing own coverage letters and coverage decisions.
• Manage litigated files, coordinating defense counsel and driving strategy through to resolution.
• Evaluate liability, damages, and settlement exposure on higher-severity claims.
• Maintain strong relationships with brokers, insureds, attorneys, and internal stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with company guidelines and industry best practices.
