Qualifications

• 7+ years of commercial liability claims experience.
• Experience handling Commercial General Liability (CGL) claims.
• Proven experience managing litigated claims from assignment through resolution.
• Strong insurance coverage analysis including interpreting policy language.
• Experience with defense counsel, coverage counsel, insureds, brokers, and other claims professionals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload of commercial general liability claims, including high-severity and litigated matters.
• Investigate claims by reviewing coverage, liability, damages, contracts, medical records, expert reports, and other documentation.
• Analyze and interpret commercial insurance policies to make sound coverage determinations.
• Direct and collaborate with defense counsel throughout the litigation process, including strategy development, discovery, depositions, mediation, settlements, and trial prep.
• Establish appropriate claim reserves and continuously evaluate exposure as new information becomes available.
• Negotiate settlements within authority levels while protecting the carrier's interests.
• Identify coverage concerns, liability trends, fraud indicators, and other exposure areas.
• Maintain accurate claim documentation per guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Collaborate with underwriting, legal, risk management, and other internal stakeholders.
• Provide recommendations on claim strategy, settlement authority, reserving, and litigation management.
• Demonstrate ownership and accountability for assigned claims with professional customer service.
