Qualifications

Location: Remote - United States, with approximately 50%–60% travel

Rate: $30–$40/hr

Job Summary:

Matlen Silver is seeking a General Ledger Specialist to support core banking migrations, system cutovers, and operational implementations within the financial services industry.

This position will focus heavily on General Ledger mapping, subledger-to-GL balancing, journal entry verification, account reconciliation, and financial tie-outs throughout mock conversions, testing cycles, and live go-live events.

The ideal candidate has hands-on accounting experience within a bank, credit union, or other financial institution and a strong understanding of General Ledger operations. Experience supporting core banking conversions or system implementations is highly preferred.

Project Details:

• Support financial institution core banking migrations, system cutovers, and implementations.


• Perform General Ledger mapping and assist with chart of accounts alignment.


• Perform subledger-to-GL balancing and identify discrepancies.


• Research and resolve out-of-balance conditions.


• Prepare, review, and verify standard, recurring, and adjusting journal entries.


• Perform balance sheet and complex account reconciliations.


• Support mock conversion runs and active testing cycles.


• Validate financial results following migrations and system conversions.


• Assist with test script validation and post-migration financial tie-outs.


• Support live go-live and cutover events.


• Work closely with accounting, finance, operations, and implementation teams throughout the conversion process.

Must Haves

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent professional accounting experience.


• Previous accounting or finance experience working directly within a bank, credit union, or financial institution.


• Strong understanding of General Ledger accounting workflows.


• Strong knowledge of chart of accounts structures and GL mapping.


• Experience researching and resolving out-of-balance conditions.


• Hands‑on experience with complex account and balance sheet reconciliations.


• Experience preparing, reviewing, and posting journal entries.


• Experience supporting system cutovers, testing, implementations, or financial system migrations.


• Ability to support test script validation and post-migration financial tie-outs.


• Willingness and ability to travel approximately 50%–60%, generally 1–2 trips per month lasting approximately 6–9 consecutive days.


• Ability to work extended and non-traditional hours during critical cutover and go‑live periods, including evenings, weekends, late nights, and potentially overnight shifts.

Desired Skills

• Previous involvement in bank core migrations or conversions.


• Experience with financial platform upgrades.


• Experience supporting bank merger or acquisition cutovers.


• Strong troubleshooting and reconciliation skills.


• Experience working through mock conversions, trial balance cutovers, and live go-live events.


• Ability to work effectively in high‑pressure implementation environments with strict financial balancing requirements.

Travel & Schedule

• Approximately 50%–60% travel.


• Typically 1–2 trips per month.


• Trips generally average 6–9 consecutive days.


• Business travel expenses including airfare, hotel, meals, and ground transportation are company‑paid.


• Standard Monday–Friday business hours during steady‑state periods.


• Extended hours may be required during mock conversions, trial balance cutovers, and live implementations.
