Job summary

VyStar Credit Union is seeking a General Accounting Manager to lead the accounting team and oversee accounts payable, fixed assets, prepaid expenses, accruals and general ledger reconciliations in compliance with laws and VyStar policies.

The role emphasizes system upgrades, internal controls, process improvements, and collaboration with VP Controller, SVP Accounting, CFO and other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• MBA or Masters of Accountancy preferred.
• CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification preferred.
• Minimum 3–5 years of progressive accounting/financial services experience required.
• Minimum 3–5 years of leadership, supervisory or team management experience in accounting preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, planning and communication skills; proficient with Excel/Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Provide seasoned leadership to a diverse team, coaching and developing staff.
• Direct accounts payable functions and oversee vendor payments and year-end reporting.
• Coordinate with departments to record fixed assets and depreciation and manage related reporting.
• Oversee general ledger reconciliations and ensure timely, accurate close processes.
• Oversee internal controls testing and risk management with Internal Audit.
• Identify and implement process improvements to drive efficiency and controls.
• Provide support to VP Controller and SVP Accounting, CFO and senior management on analyses and strategic financial decisions.
