Job summary

NAVY EXCHANGE SERVICE COMMAND (NEXCOM) in Norfolk, VA is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support Exchanges with GAAP-compliant financial analysis and verification. The role acts as liaison with independent auditors and the Exchanges to ensure accurate year-end reporting.

You will review ledgers, run balance sheet reconciliations, and assist in budget maintenance, providing timely data and actionable insights to improve financial operations across a group of Exchanges.

Qualifications

• 3 years experience with arithmetic aptitude, accuracy and detail.
• 1 year substitution: college study can replace 9 months experience.
• 1 year experience using established accounting/data processing procedures.
• Knowledge of GAAP principles applied to financial reporting.

Responsibilities

• Analyze financial operations for a group of Exchanges and review data for accuracy.
• Liaise with independent auditors during year-end audits and prepare schedules.
• Assist in maintaining budgets with monthly and year-to-date comparisons.
• Analyze general ledger accounts and reconcile balance sheets.
• Maintain liaison with Exchange personnel to resolve discrepancies.
• Perform duties independently with accuracy and timeliness.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
