Job summary

Aston Carter is seeking a General Ledger Accountant to manage journal entries, month-end close activities, and reconciliations to the general ledger. This role requires strong Excel skills and meticulous attention to detail to support accurate reporting and process improvements.

The position is fully onsite in Saint Louis, MO, with an hourly pay range and contract terms. Work includes building reconciliation workbooks and ensuring compliance with internal guidelines.

Qualifications

• Extensive GL accounting experience and understanding of GL structures.
• Experience with month-end close processes and reconciliations.
• Strong Excel skills for analytics and balance sheet work.

Responsibilities

• Review GL account structures (cost centers, entities, coding) for accuracy.
• Perform month-end close: prepare, review, post journal entries.
• Reconcile subledgers to GL and investigate variances to source transactions.
• Investigate reconciliation issues and implement corrective actions.
• Post one-off and batch journal entries, ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Troubleshoot journal entry and batch import errors, escalate as needed.
• Build reconciliation workbooks in Excel for balance sheet and P&L.
• Use pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP for data analysis.
