Job summary

LUMA Energy in Puerto Rico seeks a Senior Accountant to maintain complete financial records, analyze data, and support monthly close. You will work with Oracle ERP, ensure GAAP compliance, and assist audits. The role collaborates with teams to strengthen controls and improve reporting accuracy.

Candidate will have 3–5 years of experience, a Bachelor’s in Accounting, and CPA is preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus; occasional travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration.
• 3–5 years' experience with financial records, data analysis, close processes, audits, ERP initiatives.
• Experience with general ledger accounting, month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Experience analyzing financial data and preparing account analyses and reports.
• Experience creating or updating documents, policies, SOPs, and implementing them.
• Experience leading or collaborating on small projects.
• Experience as subject-matter expert providing support to internal/external clients.

Responsibilities

• Maintains accurate financial records by preparing general ledger entries and reconciliations.
• Analyzes financial data to identify trends and variances for reliable reporting.
• Supports month-end and year-end close processes with schedules and reports.
• Ensures compliance with US GAAP, controls, policies, and procedures.
• Contributes to documentation and improvement of accounting procedures.
• Supports external audits with required documentation and audit readiness.
• Collaborates with cross-functional teams on ERP improvements and testing.
