This position is a temporary hourly/wage position for 29 hours a week during the Summer 2025 to assist in moving furniture and equipment for a renovation project. Work may also include painting, carpentry, and other general construction trade work as assigned.

Virginia Highlands Community College serves our community by providing quality and affordable education, training, and cultural activities through an array of flexible, diverse programs that enable community members to succeed today and in the future.
Work closely with supervisor to pack classroom/labs, move tools, totes, equipment, parts, supplies from existing facility to storage unit and then back into classrooms/labs at the conclusion of the renovation.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
- Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
- Ability to remain constantly aware and observant of surroundings to maintain safe work zones for workers and the public.
- Ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds.
- Ability to read and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use hand tools during the performance of work. Valid driver's license.
Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of a criminal background check.
Additional Considerations
Works well with others and demonstrates the ability to listen carefully and follow instructions effectively.
Must be 18 years or older
Operation of a State Vehicle No Supervises Employees No Required Travel
Not expected other than travel within service areas.
