Job summary

Kelly Services is seeking a General Laborer (Food Production) in Niles, IL. This temp-to-hire role involves hands-on duties on production lines, packing, material staging, and quality checks in a fast-paced food production environment.

Responsibilities include maintaining line speed, verifying codes and labels, and assisting with changeovers. Candidates need a HS diploma or GED, basic math, and the ability to lift up to 55 pounds; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Basic math skills (whole numbers, fractions, decimals).
  • Ability to follow instructions and manufacturing processes.
  • Capability to perform repetitive physical tasks (bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, grasping).
  • Able to lift up to 55 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold, humid, and noisy environments (PPE provided).
  • Willingness to work scheduled shifts and overtime as needed.

  • Perform hands-on duties on production and assembly lines, including packing, repackaging, and product rework.
  • Support production by maintaining line speed and meeting quality and appearance standards.
  • Prepare, stage, and replenish materials, packaging, and supplies.
  • Accurately verify production codes, dates, and labels to ensure product specifications are met.
  • Operate and adjust coding machines as necessary for accurate labeling.
  • Build, stack, and manually palletize finished goods.
  • Pack cases, move materials, and assist with rework activities as assigned.
  • Ensure unused materials are resealed, labeled, and returned to designated locations properly.
  • Power down, clean, and prepare equipment for the next shift.
  • Assist with product changeovers, including removal and staging of materials.
  • Maintain adequate supplies of packaging materials to support production needs.
  • Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe throughout the shift.
  • Follow all safety, GMP, quality, and plant policies, as well as food safety regulations.
  • Communicate production or quality concerns to supervisors or team leads.

Location: Niles, IL

Employment Type: Temp to hire

Schedule:

Friday, Saturday, Sunday – 5:00am to 6:30pm ($20.55)

Monday- Thursday- 4:00pm to 2:30am ($20)

The General Laborer plays a crucial role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality production of food products. This hands-on position is responsible for assembly line and material handling tasks throughout the plant, helping maintain line flow, product integrity, and compliance with safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) in a fast-paced, team-oriented manufacturing environment.
