Job summary

GFL Environmental Inc. in Greenville, NC is seeking a hands-on Facilities Maintenance Technician to keep facilities operating safely and efficiently.

You will perform repairs and preventive maintenance across HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems, while maintaining clean, safe work areas. This role requires 3+ years of multi-trade experience, strong problem-solving, and the ability to manage multiple service requests independently.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of facilities, building maintenance, or multi-trade experience preferred.
• Working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general maintenance systems.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service requests.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC systems, including furnaces and air-conditioning systems (EPA certification not required)
• Service and repair water heaters, solar collection tanks, and appliances
• Perform general plumbing repairs, including fixtures, disposals, drains, and piping
• Complete basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs (lighting, outlets, switches, minor diagnostics)
• Conduct general carpentry, painting, and building repairs (doors, drywall, trim, hardware, etc.)
• Perform groundskeeping and exterior facility maintenance as needed
• Provide maintenance support for additional facility systems and equipment as required
• Perform skilled work in one or more trades (HVAC, plumbing, electrical, appliance repair, locksmith, etc.) requiring solid working knowledge and troubleshooting ability
• Respond promptly to service requests while providing excellent internal customer service
• Accurately document all work performed in accordance with company policy
• Conduct preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and unexpected repairs
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas
• Follow all company policies and comply with federal, state, and local safety regulations

Physical Requirements:
