Job description

SUMMARY: Prepares the site for daily work, performs housekeeping, and other duties necessary for daily activities.

Responsibilities
  1. Operate jackhammers and drills to break up concrete or pavement.
  2. Position, join, align, and seal structural components such as concrete wall sections and pipes.
  3. Shovel cement and other materials into portable cement mixers; mix, pour, and spread concrete.
  4. Signal equipment operators to facilitate machinery, equipment, and material movements.
  5. Finish freshly poured cement or concrete using floats, trowels, screeds, or powered tools.
  6. Tend to machines that pump concrete, grout, and sand.
  7. Maintain pumps, compressors, and generators to power tools and move materials.
  8. Lubricate, clean, and repair machinery, equipment, and tools.
  9. Operate and maintain air monitoring and sampling devices in hazardous environments.
  10. Assist in building and positioning forms for pouring concrete; dismantle after use.
  11. Clean and prepare construction sites, following waste handling guidelines.
  12. Control traffic near work zones.
  13. Dig ditches or trenches, backfill excavations, and level earth to grade specifications.
  14. Erect and disassemble scaffolding, shoring, braces, and other temporary structures.
  15. Load, unload, and identify building materials, machinery, and tools, distributing them appropriately.
  16. Act as a watch during welding or metal cutting activities.
  17. Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications.
  18. Expedite materials and equipment to work locations and set up work sites.
  19. Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform janitorial activities.
  20. Observe and comply with safety and project rules, including wearing safety equipment.
  21. Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications

Job Requirements:

  • Plan work and select proper tools.
  • Compare and see differences in size, shape, and form of lines, figures, and objects.
  • Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings.
  • Make decisions based on measurable criteria.
  • Work at heights without fear.

Qualifications: May require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Works under supervision, relying on instructions and guidelines. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager.

Physical Requirements

Strength: Standing 70%, Walking 20%, Sitting 10%. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling capacities specified. Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, and fingering requirements detailed with symbols.

Note: Symbols indicate frequency of activity: NP (Not Present), O (Occasionally), F (Frequently), C (Constantly).
